The days are long gone when we could compare the two parties and claim that one was better than the other. The Liberal Party fell over after John Howard; Labor after Bob Hawke. Dutton has shown no sign of being able to resurrect the Liberals. Albanese has sunk Labor, and they have nobody else. Australia is rooted.

While uncertainty can be very unsettling for some,
it may also be evidence of an openness to new ideas,
experiences and relationships. Australians have
always muddled along. But they get it right in the end.

Lets not forget we had the ball and chain and the ignomy
of a convict settlement consciously designed to house
what were considered the dregs of another society. Then
we had the fact of the ease of our attaining self
government and independence, having been denied the pain
of revolution. So it may not be a bad thing for us to not
have a rigid sense of what should and must happen.

It just might make us a more tolerant society in which a
lack of absolute privilege for any point of view acts as
a social lubricant.

Albanese has definitely established his status as a liar in quick succession:

. The voice was a “modest proposal”.
. Power prices would be reduced by $275.
. 800 plus Gazans were given “temporary” visas he knew the courts would/will ensure that they will never leave unless they wish to.
. Now the tax lie.

His pants will undoubtedly be on fire again before we get rid of him.

Yes our Prime Minister is stubborn
And strong willed
And can be a pain in the ass
But he's consultative, inclusive, caring, and kind,
Listens to advice
And has a heart of gold!

We should not underestimate his ability
to find sh-- out

As I've said of Albanese several times, I never really expected better of him, but I held hopes that Chalmers would be of sterner stuff and would keep Albanese in line.

Alas Albanese is worse than I thought and Chalmers is a massive disappointment. The country is not in good hands although there is little to show that things are better on the other side of the parliament.

Most governments in Australia are given a second chance and rarely get kicked out after three years (Whitlam was the exception and to this point, bad as it is, the government isn't on the same scale as Whitlam). So I expect they'll win the next election, especially as they've now shown that they are prepared to sacrifice the nation's long term future to their short-term political advantage.

Batten down the hatches.
