Isn't that sad for her. I suppose the name is interchangeable and it is the media, magazines and the PR people who are behind this torturing of US. Those of us who do not have Full Time Personal trainers, chefs, hairdressers and cosmeticians to produce the gleaming magazine cover image. Those of us who do not have Chanel supplying expensive wardrobes. Oscar-win aside, she is a pedestrian actress. Sacha Horler is much better at the craft - I wonder what she thinks of Ms Skinny's bank account? Just when we might have mellowed toward Our Nic, she 'stepped out' with that vulpine creep Steve Bing - only a fellow creep could possibly enjoy his company after the miserable way he treated Liz Hurley. The thing about ALL the slim gorgeous RICH chicks ( Kylie Elle Nic etc) is that they are DRIVEN by some weird thing WE don't have, to ATTAIN That Thing - me me me, and sacrifice children sisters and partners to be it.

So the Ice Queen finally gets her gong for being a bonza Aussie. Let's not take into account she was born overseas, lives overseas, makes her living overseas, married a yank, joined a weird cult, has gone out with every bloke in LA who stupidly looked twice at her, and is now engaged to a drugged out whore mongering country music singer who probably doesn't even know what day it is. She's a real Aussie treasure (hero).

I dare say the Bali 9 will be on next years honours list for making people more aware of our country.

Absolutely, Snoggett. She is off to WA to make her zillionth movie when she already has more money than anybody could possibly need. How is she drawing attention to the UN aid efforts? (actually, the UN is useless too, is there a forum here for that?)
Nic, b Hawaii, has every right to be up there with the big Aussies - Mel b USA, Russell b NZ,etc; but what has she done to deserve any kind of award? There are selfless people devoted to helping others, eg Les Twentyman in Melbourne, who have no glamour in their own lives and who have never been helped by Kidman. I will concede that she did pop into a hospital once and visit a sick kiddie - but did she leave a cheque? an old frock for the suffering mum? This award is a crock.

Celebrity nanny Suzanne Hansen has called into question Nicole Kidman's mothering skills in her controversial new book. Hansen claims she never saw the Moulin Rouge actress around her adopted kids when she worked in Hollywood for celebrity couples. In tell-all book You'll Never Nanny In This Town Again, Hansen alleges Kidman played only a small part in raising her children Conor and Isabella. Hansen tells PageSix.com, "I never saw her (with her children)." Hansen also alleges Tom Cruise drew up strict confidentiality guidelines for the child minders he hired, so they would never be able to contradict claims he made about his own fathering skills. She adds, "Tom would make his nannies sign confidentiality agreements that were so strict, they couldn't even say for whom they were working. So basically, if (Cruise) went on camera and said how he didn't have any help raising his children, they couldn't say anything.

so it is obvious that the Australian Awards committee has not read the book.
There are plenty of nasty moments described in the posts above too.
I feel sorry for all celebrity children and am amazed that any come out of it 'well adjusted'.
THIS forum HAS to be the longest running on all of Online Opinion.
Congratulations everybody - and look - it's topic has just got another award for her smug smile.

The longevity of this subject matter, particularly in the context of Online Opinion, highlights the thin line between apparent social frivolity and the hardline politics that shape this and other Western countries. This is the real pulse of a nation - ignore it at your peril.
