Onya Peta - of course Mrs EXCruisiating would hardly matter in the scheme of the universe except that she keeps getting rewarded for nothing, and when she was divorcing for 800million dollars I got sick of hearing about it, and if she does ANY REAL charity work aside from turning up at her own premieres, then I wish her slaggy PR would let us all know - A$3m would endow a chair at any university in australia. Sacha Horler is a far better actress and Nic was born in Honolulu so maybe your septic aquaintances are right, I just wish the australian media would do some fact checking.

Isn't it about time our wonderful Nicole went to Indonesia to help out the Tsunami victims? There was a lot of publicity hype about her and her sister going there earlier and then it was mysteriously postphoned to a later time. How much later can it get? Are they waiting for the next tsunami?

Surely with "Eucalyptus" falling over our Nic has plenty of time to help UNICEF and the tsunami victims. What's that you say? - oh she's washing her hair - fair enough. She does need to concentrate on looking good for all those stalking camera men.

Sure, visit Indonesia - but don't make a tedious TV special about it. Celebrities who make nicely packaged TV specials are doing nothing more than promoting themselves. She should turnup and do something (I don't know - donate money, shovel debris) - but to stand there with her makeup on surrounded by orphaned children who neither know nor care who she is - well, it's as bad as turning up to premiers of your own films, or making that huge personal sacrifice of donating a script.. And that goes for all celebrities who want to get in on the act and show how much they care by making a special/publicity shoot..

My friend Gianna drew my attention to a review by Helen Garner of the Nicole Kidman flick Birth:

"But two things are wrong. One is Kidman herself. When such a blatantly manufactured force as the Nicole Phenomenon keeps coming at you every time you open your front door, it is a point of honour to put up resistance. I long for her to wriggle out through the bars of her stardom, to persuade me she's not made of cardboard. But I can't get past that thin, nasal little voice with its high-school intonations; those melodramatic brows; the awful girly thing that happens when she laughs."

I've obviously come late to this theme (stumbling in via an irrelevant google). However, I feel compelled to add my two cents. As a bald, grey-haired, old coot (definitely a GOM), who has worked and taught in live theatre for some 30 years, I have to confess to finding this all a little amusing.
For my money, I find Ms Kidman (how shall I put this without being on the receiving end of one of Courtney's diatribes? - ah, what the hell!) - borrrring. There, I've said it. Others have called her "ice maiden". I can't regard her as an "actress", (or as a rather pretentious past paramour of mine would put it "actrine" - I believe this was supposed to be french on her part, and having been a latin, german and japanese student, I wouldn't know), - but back to the plot.
Though young and fresh in "Dead Calm", even then, her displays of emotion just didn't ring true. I've never seen "BMX Bandits" and only "Batman Forever" and "Bangkok Hilton" of her later work (work??). I have however, seen plenty of promos, previews, shorts, etc of her other efforts, and she has never yet impressed me (not even as a woman). Regardless of her dialogue, her gestures, or any other aspect of her "performance", her eyes never show any expression. They don't sparkle, they don't glower, they don't love, they don't hate, they don't ... , well, they just don't anything, and in film where the closeup is so prevalent, this is even more important than on stage. The photo on poor deluded Courtney's webpage is a public appearance (Oscars? GoldenGlobe? don't know, don't care!) so she could be expected to be natural and show some vivacity, enjoyment, or excitement, but even there the eyes are lifeless and dull, making the mouth appear a grimace.
Anyway, I've said my piece, and while I can't go as far as saying I hate her, she certainly leaves me cold! So now (if anyone is still following this thread), it's over to the fan club to bite my head off.

I have just keyed "I hate Nicole Kidman" into Google and got a new record of 835 listings. Looks like it may be time to update this article.
