Queensland isn't just a COVID-19 election : Comments

By Graham Young, published 27/10/2020

Annastacia Palaszczuk has support for her COVID stance, but is still struggling to do better than last election. Much worse and Queensland will have a minority government.

Hi Steele,

I did a bit of the pre-polling HTV's for a couple of days, the big issue was Covid-19, and the way the Palaszczuk government had handled the pandemic. A new issue arose given the high number of pre-polls and postils. The LNP promised a huge Bradfield style project, totally un-costed, something that would cost billions. They touted it as a reality, and it was a vote getter for weeks, raking in plenty of pre-polls on a unrealistic at this time promise, then they dropped it like a hot potato, as being unviable two days before the final vote. Good old Indy and others fell for that ploy, hook, line and sinker.

The Qld Labor Govt. had several years to strenghten its backbone which is the Public Service.
This has guaranteed them the votes but it also guarantees that no funding will be available for things really needed.
Business should & probably will revolt when the Govt. slaps on more taxes to cover the cost of the backbone !

Dangerous Deb, got the tap on the shoulder, she's cactuses! When you make predictions in articles, you should have some rationale behind them, instead of relying on your own personal political bias.

I noticed our ABC has ramped up the anti Morrison rhetoric. The Qld result must have given them the initiative once more.
I'm just waiting for COVID-21 when those presently hailed figures will once more top the scales & the money runs short. The retirement village ex-public servant inmates got the blame for helping Anna over the line. They didn't like when Pauline & Deb told them to stay put in their subsidised luxury condos so the the border can be re-opened for business. No, let everyone suffer as long as they can enjoy their undeserved taxpayer funded benefits !
Typical labor voters !

Dear individual,

Oh please. Time to dry up. There was no public servant vote tipping the scales, the LNP got thrashed. Not only that they were directly responsible for the election of a second Green.

For you to be touting this line smacks deeply of a sook.

Give it a rest.

Once upon a time Indy had bad dreams about Reds under his bed. Now the poor chap is having nightmares about public servants in his bed.

Steele, you of all people should know Australia's 67 million retired public servants all live in condos on the Gold Coast, they all vote for Labor, and The Greens, and for each other, and for themselves. Last week they were all living in Melbourne helping that bad man Dan keep Melbournians locked up, or down or in, something like that!

Indy, just think, without all those PS people who would put your welfare into the bank each fortnight. And as you said they've been doing that since 1972, you haven't had a job since arriving as a refo in 1972 and Gough gave you the sack after one day from your low grade PS job. Gough had no right to take your mop and bucket like he did, shame on Gough!
