Lockdowns and border closures may calm those fears, but they will kill far more people than a virus ever could.

ttbn. You should know, given you and your ignorance personified,far-right ilk/coal lobby, are producing and spraying the overwhelming bulk of it.

You'll have a nice day now, y'hear.

And with that done?
Alan B,
Let's see how COVID-19 reacts to your simplistic academic suggestion ! I already know the voters will keep fighting each other thus preventing any hope of a solution !
As the average Bogan, educated or not, won't volunteer to absorb discipline & respect it'll need to be forced into them-via a Non-military national Service !
No NS, only bare minimum welfare for three months for 18-20 year old unemployed !
Do what I hear you say ? Well, I say start digging that canal to Lake Eyre !

SR using newspapers as a source? Idiot yourself! The flu landed in Sierra Leone at the coaling station and hammered the local population. Same in other locations but you only see prejudice never knowledge.
This is just the common cold corona virus. First time round there would be some deaths but people die every day anyway. The fact is the bulk of Australian deaths have been in the frail aged population the people who pneumonia usually take out. We cannot live forever and around 430 deaths a day from natural causes are the usual. Deaths this year are less than last year but the economy is now in its death throes. All you old commo's will be rejoicing but the replacement will really give you something to grizzle about!

Oh Lord, save us from the pig ignorant for they know not what they crap on about.

Dear Jbowyer,

The quotes came directly from a paper written by Vanessa Northington Gamble, MD, PhD and published in the journal Public Health Report.

The paper was robustly sourced with over 80 references.

But you would have known all this if you had just taken a moment to click the link I provided. I will give it once again.

Come on mate you have been pulled up for talking rubbish and you should be man enough to say 'Yep, I was wrong' and move on.

The truth about Taiwan ttbn, is they had a really bad experience from H1N1 or whatever it was years back, and they learned from it.
So when COVID happened, they acted immediately, to protect themselves from what had happened previously.
They didn't wait for it to officially be recognised as a pandemic, they acted straight away and the people and government both knew the potential danger because they'd been through it before.

And all you people saying we need herd immunity.
That would be good if it wasn't a man-made virus developed as a bioweapon.

If this was the measles, mumps or chicken pox etc.
- I'd be going to the party with all the other kids to deliberately catch it.
But it isn't any of those diseases.

I didn't get a shot for any of those medical conditions.
I had mumps, I had measles and I had chicken pox and have natural immunity to all of them, without a shot of who-bloody-knows-what.

What if this virus is not supposed to kill you but just make you sick?
You know the way in war (what do you think a bioweapon is for) that it's better to injure someone than kill them because it takes up more resources to look after the injured person?

What if it's not supposed to kill you, but just make you sick forever?
Anyone got official stats on those whom had COVID-19 and ongoing health issues?

SR read what I said dopey drawers. You will excuse me if I am not impressed by some half arsed medical bint! Because of people like that we are in this pickle. Medico's have particular knowledge but less wisdom than most people, You can squeal and lick the doctors and I will add up one and one and make two, OK?
Today the economy is now officially a catastrophe and its not looking promising for tomorrow.
