Political correctness : Comments

By David Leyonhjelm, published 13/6/2016

When I released a video containing my National Apology to Taxpayers this week, the indignation it caused in some quarters was entirely predictable.

We all know that pollies, who are masters of unpalatable preference sharing even where that defies the patently expressed wishes of the electorate; live for publicity even where that creates a storm of controversy?

Perhaps next time Dave, you could release a video of you apparently masturbating from a (nudity and profanity free) convenient trouser pocket, and not entirely unacceptable in some extreme conservative circles, it would seem, announce a name change synonymous with the activity you were performing? Something like the wonky party?

Perhaps musically back-grounded by an orchestral version of Rhapsody in blue?

The burlp could be kick started with this message, and authorized by none other than the now legendary Chinese gold miner of ghostly fame, Willie Cum?

And goes as follows, Willie Cum Can't come, Willie Cum will come when Willie Come can come. Signed, Willie Cum.

Which as some folk will know, is the now framed telegram of nefarious repute that hangs on the wall of the Westland hotel in Hokotiki, sent when flooding prevented Willie from returning via the only then available link, Arthur's Pass, from the funeral he'd been obliged to attend.

I hope this can be presented as an example of the politically correct? The apparent topic of the thread?

Alan B.:

And what about his arguments or do you just get your sexual satisfaction from 'talking dirty' on a public forum?

His arguments have as much cogent veracity as the referenced and actual literal telegram! I've tried to be fair and with the best will in the world all I could find to do justice to this comic clown's job application was Willie's telegram.

How can you tell what a lemon tastes like? Suck it and see!

"all I could find to do justice to this comic clown's job application was Willie's telegram."

Well it tells us a lot about you and where you hang out. But of course there is no need to explain yourself if you haven't done anything wrong.

Political correctness may indeed be an idiotic modern phenomena, but correctness itself, right vs. wrong, has been there all through the ages, regardless whether and how it was socially enforced.

It all comes down to Hillel's golden rule: "That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow".

It is wrong to hurt others and while it is obviously wrong to hurt others physically, it is also wrong to hurt them emotionally through words.
