Macho Tony Abbott and the women who ruled him : Comments

By Peter West, published 10/12/2015

Many discussions of masculinity, my own included, have pointed out that masculinity has its paradoxes.

Didn’t need to go to your URL as I have been following the Royal Commission into Child Abuse “daily” since inception.

You state –

. Pell felt more secure fronting the CURRENT Royal Commission when his follower Abbott was Prime Minister.

Really – well you obviously haven’t been following the Royal Commission and CURRENT evidence now presented by “higher up clergy members” and others with knowledge of abuse to children – many years prior to Abbot.

However, you can continue to hate Abbot – I don’t care., as abuse to “innocent youth” goes back to the 50’s.

Me/my (and many others) long journey of 20 years being seeking justice to those children abused by ANY person, whatever faith or denomination.

Did we give up and put this issue in the “to hard basket” all those years ago, when no one would listen – NO, we kept going.

So you can blame Abbott all you wish, however if you were viewing Royal Commission Enquiry on Friday you may know why the Commissioner “rejected” Cardinal Pell’s claim as not able to be in Australia – next week to give evidence as empanelled - , as he not well. So convenient and those attending in the gallery voiced their dismay. Such notification provided to the Commissioner on Thursday evening.

We wait until February.

Follow proceedings – then you can come back to me with any rebuff.

I lost my brother to cancer this year.

Your post suggesting "on the beach" being my brother was rather insensitive to me and my family.

SAINTS, I am sorry for your loss, but obviously I could not know this happened and thus am in no way insensitive towards you.

You can't take every comment on this forum personally or you won't be here long.
Didn't you read the previous comments on this thread before attacking my comment?
If you had you would have read Onthebeach's comment not too far back.
But I think you know that don't you?

Abbott is finished in politics, and it is time to move on.

Well fellow commenters. I'm glad someone thinks "it's time to move on". ho ho ho. Really?
Clearly, Abbott and his ex-Speaker Bishop wish they were still there in the thick of it.

What West should have said that they both have Attention Deprivation Syndrome. ha ha we've invented a new social disease.

I bet what Turnbull wants for Chrissy is for someone to"rid me of this meddlesome ex-priest", as some English King once said, more or less.

Better make that Lord Voltemort where referring to ex-PM Abbott.

"He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named", lest the leftist 'Progressives' - who wouldn't recognise real Left if the was a Dept of Main Roads sign pointing the way - go into a blind panic. As if any of the old Lefties would ever sign up to the ridiculous, blind support of totalitarian Islam.

Likewise, what old Lefties would ever go along with the censorship and the denial of free speech of Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act that makes it unlawful for someone to do an act that is reasonably likely to “offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate” someone because of their race or ethnicity.

BTT

It is true that women have always been revered in Australia and were always put on a pedestal. An example is the highly positive stereotype of women. However the 'Boomer' and earlier generations were raised to be polite and nice (Barry Humphries has commented on that). If anything, that was more of and influence on Tony Abbott than any suggested special loyalty to women.

The political campaign to unseat him was typically Marxist in its tactics, highly fabricated and effective. The key to his demise was his inability to pose as politicians do - that he could be all things to all men. He doubtless took advice on women policies from feminists in the House and the federal bureaucracy and that was used against him. Feminists are educated middle class and entitled and as he was slow top learn, are thinking of their own entitlement and do NOT represent women at all.

Yes but why did our nice ex PM have to give in too these women? The Queen is easily the most pleasant of them.
Why couldn't TA just say 'You've been great. I've been really grateful for your wise counsel. Now there's this job I want you to do in Santiago/The Vatican/ Helsinki/ Mars..." and get them out of public life? Nobody's answering the question- how unusual for these forums (fora?) but just rabbiting on about their own obsessions and concerns. I don't think it's about feminism, is it? Truly truly?
