Macho Tony Abbott and the women who ruled him : Comments

By Peter West, published 10/12/2015

Many discussions of masculinity, my own included, have pointed out that masculinity has its paradoxes.

Hi Suse

I of course meant the ring on a Cardinal's finger.

Not the object of a priest's special craving.

Butt returning to Tony. He said he'll wait until the next Federal Election before leaving politics.

More like Abbott will wait until Turnbull has comfortably won the next Election in 2016. Then Abbott will attempt to run a leadership campaign against Turnbull.

The Conservative Curmudgeons * that troll OLO's comment threads can only drool.

Aye onthebeach :)

* "curmudgeon" = "a crusty, ill-tempered, and usually old man"

see http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/curmudgeon ;p

Onthebeach, it IS time to move on old boy. Abbott is so gone.
And he can't even manage to bow out gracefully, as it seems his stupid mouth still runs ahead of his brain, what with his 'advice' to Muslims about the Islam religion.

What IS it about you and Rotherham OTB?
You seem to have a morbid fascination with that whole awful scenario?

I think we can all agree that nasty, slimy paedophiles are plentiful in all societies and within all countries and religions.
One only needs to travel to many Asian/Indonesian countries to see/hear about all the paedophile Western white men who travel there purely to abuse the poor kids in those areas, so I don't see why you are just disgusted with the Pakistani paedophiles?

Aren't all these disgusting criminals just as bad as each other, including, and especially, Christian Clergy? Abbott's pal Pell is in trouble with the legal authorities here for allegedly protecting some of them no less...so he has developed a convenient 'heart trouble' over there in the holy city.

You say -

You attack Tony Abbot’s religious beliefs and "lob" him in the mix – such a “flippant” comment.

We finally got a Senate Enquiry in 2004 into “child abuse” conducted on children, whether in Salvation Army operated homes, other catholic organisations, or any other “orphanage” facilities run by the government or any other agency.

Such findings (senate enquiry 2004) have now lead to the Royal Commission Enquiry into the extreme “level” of abuse conducted on such innocent children.

Suseonline – do some homework as to the Royal Commission’s work and “daily” evidence of abuse to victims presented before the Royal Commission.

It’s not only “catholics” as you aspire Tony Abbott’s mate George Pell....really!

Before attacking Tony Abbot – do some research on “other” institutions – who destroyed so many of the lives of “our youth” with their despicable abuse to children. You will unearth many totally "corrupt" people who were "supposedly" in charge of our "youth" of various religious beliefs - for their own "dispicable" pleasures.

You link Tony Abbott (by association of faith) with George Pell.

You really give "dis-service and have a total lack of respect" to all abused victims who now present to the Royal Commission.

George Pell is the person to respond to the Royal Commission "personally" - not Tony Abbott.

Is that right Saints...are you ONthebeach's brother?
While I have a go at him insinuating that somehow Pakistani paedophiles are worse than other paedophiles, you decide I am now having a go at Catholics, as opposed to all others?

Didn't I say above that ALL paedophiles of any colour, race or religion are to be abhorred ? As this thread is about Toni Abbott, I was using his good mate Pell as an example of how anyone at all can be involved in some way with perpetrating or covering up this sort of crime. So what is your point?

Where did I say it was only Catholics who can be paedophiles?
Don't put words in my mouth like OTB does, as it is not an attractive trait...

SAINers

1. Catholic clergy certainly get an inordinate number of mentions at the CURRENT Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Commission_into_Institutional_Responses_to_Child_Sexual_Abuse#Background

2. Pell felt more secure fronting the CURRENT Royal Commission when his follower Abbott was Prime Minister.

Now that Abbott is gone Pell is too worried to come back to Australia to face the music.

3. Meanwhile one hopes Abbott is shipped out as Australian Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican). That comfy job may be vacant next year https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ambassadors_of_Australia_to_the_Holy_See .

Chums Pell and Abbott could be together.
