Macho Tony Abbott and the women who ruled him : Comments

By Peter West, published 10/12/2015

Many discussions of masculinity, my own included, have pointed out that masculinity has its paradoxes.

plantagenet,

So Abbott will lose either way with you?

Gifts differing as they say. We all have our positives to build on and downsides to guard against and hopefully counterbalance. That is where the team should come in of course.

However in recent times, taking from Rudd on for convenience, ministers have sat back and let the leader do all of the running and later claiming that s/he 'wouldn't listen', 'didn't consult' and 'wasn't popular'. That suits the media and commentators, but it does not serve the electorate.

Talking about 'macho', one could put a better argument for Julia Gillard earning that label. Julia was blokey. She would never have been with the gossiping girls surveying the scene from the window at the bbq. Julia would have the one telling the jokes in good cheer and handling those sausages as they should be, with tongs not a piercing fork.

It is all an invention that Tony Abbott is 'macho'. There are many others in the Parliament who definitely are despite the sensitivity cloaks that they wear (as there are female chauvinists), but Abbott isn't one of them.

And to think the MINORITY of Australians, who are Conservatives, respect this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxwkbkXGPdM

I wonder if Abbott will seek counsel from Cardinal Pell when Pell fronts the Royal Commission.

But wait. Pell, who is known to work a long days on Vatican money matters, now can't travel to Australia. Ever? http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-12-11/george-pell-too-unwell-to-give-evidence-at-child-sex-inquiry/7021846

Looks like Tony might miss kissing the Cardinal's ring. http://www.catholicdoors.com/faq/qu472.htm

Plantagenet "Looks like Tony might miss kissing the Cardinal's ring."
Lol...thanks for making me laugh so early in the day here in Perth :)

Onthebeach, stop crying into your hanky over Abbott's demise. Anything that was ever said about Abbott personally, including his little briefs, pales into insignificance compared to the vile comments about our first female PM. People made jokes about her partner, her childlessness, her clothing, her backside, her hair, her atheism, her father's death, and I could go on and on.

You personally threw yourself into the Gillard-bashing sport that men all over the country indulged in, so don't go sobbing over poor little Abbott's treatment....he asked for everything he got. Now even his good mate Pell won't own him.

100% correct . Gillard was a masterpiece of a woman. Abbott had one last dig at her with the royal commission, which has not been worthy of 58 million $. The police could have done that for nothing. Then again Abbott’s ideas were generally failures. The king of backflipps is what he will be known as, amongst other things.
An absolute time of regret for au. The worst PM in history or the world. He has even inspired Trump.
Give a knighthood to man dingo or Prince Philip, there is no difference. Out of step with the world, AU, and his own party. That is when you know you do not belong anywhere.

Heh, heh, Suseonline, you'd be the Marxist-feminist's Nancy Reagan.

Any wonder, when you say that you never read posts, evidence and links that could challenge your opinions and world view.

The only machismo to be worried about in Australia is being imported as part of that leftist 'Progressive' 'diversity-Australia-has-to-have' that you support.

However as a Marxist-feminist albeit a Nancy Reagan type :) you DO avidly support more of those 'misunderstood' and 'unfairly maligned' (according to you!) Islamic men and would throw open Oz doors to them.

Here they are practicing their unique machismo in the UK, assisted by left and Labor dupes and the strong political correctness that exists in the UK (as in Australia),

<Rotherham council ignored child abuse by Asian gangs ['Asian' is PC for Kashmiris from Pakistan] because of 'misplaced political correctness', report concludes

Damning report into the Rotherham child sex exploitation scandal finds council riven by 'bullying, sexism, suppression and misplaced political correctness'

Misplaced political correctness by Rotherham’s Labour led council combined with a staggering culture of denial allowed more than 1,400 vulnerable girls to be routinely abused by gangs of Asian men, a withering report has concluded.

Children as young as nine were groomed, trafficked and raped by members of the town’s Pakistani community, but a desperation to avoid being labelled as racist meant councillors turned a blind eye to the appalling abuse for 16 years.

A damning report, written by former Victims’ Commissioner, Louise Casey, has laid bare the true extent of the council’s failings and accused those in charge of deliberately trying to cover up scandal and silence whistle-blowers.

Just minutes after the report’s findings were published the entire Labour Cabinet of Rotherham Council resigned and Communities Secretary Eric Pickles announced he was sending in Government Commissioners to run things until new elections could be held next year.>

But you are still holding that door open and chastising Tony Abbott for successfully stopping those boats. Gillard and the men who ruled her,

Have we run out of local news. Abbott was nothing but a fool, it’s hard to see someone still defending him. It shows how far to the right faction this beach bloke is. His own party got rid of him.
To blame a whole community of muslim’s for a few radical extremists is simply wrong. Everywhere in the world they say it is wrong. Here we have an ingrown hatred by a select part of au that can not see past their own nose. Misogynistic, Racist, anti feminist, and against everything in general. Abbott’s loving relationship with Canada went west also. Trump and Abbott, they both speak the same B?S.
Time moves on and so has Abbott.
