Appointment of Mr Tim Wilson as Human Rights Commissioner : Comments

By Sev Ozdowski, published 23/12/2013

During the six years of Labor government various new positions were created on the AHRC. The budget was significantly increased but the government did not manage to find time to appoint a new commissioner.

Chris, your comment is too mild.
It is not that the left fails to recognise the right's participation
it is that they oppose their participation.
It is an attempt to deny participation.

Their attack on Andrew Bolt here in this thread shows that.
I went to the trouble to read the judgement and he was not convicted
of racism at all. He was convicted because he offended someone who it
was suggested could pass if they wished as Caucasian.
He also made a mistake, if I remember correctly of mistaking a
grandfather fora great grandfather.

Is a Bill of Rights on the Abbott government's agenda ? I didn't know that.

Most of the comment on Tim Wilson's appointment seems to be the manner of the appointment. Are all appointments to the AHRC by invitation from the incumbent government?

Sorry to load up with questions but your article does prompt them: have a lovely Christmas you'all.

Good article Sev and congratulations to Tim Wilson on your appointment. My own thoughts may be easily classified as right wing but I prefer to think of them as rational pragmatic. May I suggest that the AHRC should be disbanded altogether or at least the present members sacked (excluding Tim who is too new to have caused damage). Nicola Roxon and the AHRC under Gillian Triggs have in my opinion done more to damage free speech in this nation than anybody else I can recall. Hopefully this will be how history records their stewardship. Whoever said that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance definitely got it right. Australia needs a lot more freedom of speech and opinion and a vast amount less of political correctness. I have also observed that those who claim they are protecting my freedoms are usually the ones taking them away at a great rate. I hope Tim Wilson is up to the task.

That's another of the lefties lies.
The government releases the info on boat arrivals every Fri as requested by our military, ie the Officiers charged with cleaning up Labors mess.
So far there has been a 90% reduction in numbers, according to our military.

This is a wonderful article by Mr Ozdowski, and I also congratulate Tim Wilson.

Europe at present is facing the terrible crisis of the rise of Islam. Although many people have raised the issue, perhaps now they are even in the majority, their warnings have mostly been ignored amid cries of Islamaphobia, and the desire not to offend. Political Correctness, and Multiculturism may well lead us into another century of war, a European civil war, the likes of which we have never seen.

Nicola Roxon and the AHRC would have silenced Copernicus, and Churchill, just as they were complicit in the silencing of Geert Wilders when he was in Australia.

Perhaps we are wrong, and despite all the evidence that the great majority of the current world conflicts involve Islam, the religion of smack-your-wife is gentle and peace loving.

Oh, if only LEGO and Pliny-of-Perth could publish leading articles in our major newspapers!

I see a strong similarity between Islam and the National Socialist Party.

Both are antidemocratic
Both have a book Mien Kampf & the Koran
Both wear a distinctive uniform.
Islam wants to conquer the world Nazis wanted Lebensraum.
Islam threatens death to unbelievers and Nazis run gas chambers.
Both use fifth columns.
Before obtaining power both run terrorist campaigns, 9/11 & Crystalnacht.
Both have a disdain for human rights.

Any further suggestions ?
