Appointment of Mr Tim Wilson as Human Rights Commissioner : Comments

By Sev Ozdowski, published 23/12/2013

During the six years of Labor government various new positions were created on the AHRC. The budget was significantly increased but the government did not manage to find time to appoint a new commissioner.

' it also provides a free speech platform for the 'sicko haters' as well. '

yep if its not Bolt then its Abbott. I would of thought the left would defend its right to hate to the max. You can't fight human nature.

How would anyone know if the boats have stopped, the Australian government has ceased releasing any information, on the arrival of Asylum seekers by boats.
It will be interesting to hear from the new head for Australian "Human Rights", on the conditions asylum seekers live under and the lack of medical care.
Though very much doubt the "Brandis Boy" will be saying anything.

C'mon everyone, lighten up. Every government rewards their cronies and stooges with mega-buck appointments that have no rational justification except as jobs-for-the-boys. Think "ambassador" for a moment - or even "Governor General" - and it is just another sink-hole for our tax dollars.

Can anyone provide a logical justification, for example, for the appointment of Ms Mirabella to the Board of the ASC? A deep understanding of boatbuilding, perhaps? A long and well-respected background in industry, maybe?

Nah.

Jobs for the boys.

On our dime, as the Americans so succinctly put it.

Kipp it's swings and roundabouts, Labor leaked like a sieve on operational matters and quite effectively covered up the serious crimes and general nuisance to the community caused by the overwhelmingly male boat arrivals once they are released. The coalition is maintaining radio silence on their border protection operations and revealing more about just what a problem these men on bridging visas are becoming for the people who are forced live around them.
But what would you rather know first?
How many men arrived at Christmas Island by boat in a given week or how many were being investigated on the mainland for crimes such as rape, murder, theft and drug offences?

You are never going to know that JOM. In 1993, the ethnic leaders of several well known crime prone ethnic and religious groups successfully lobbied the Federal Labor government to prevent the Australian Bureau of Statistics from compiling statistics, or analysing statistics, related to ethnic crime.

This results in a Catch 22 situation. Multiculturalists angrily deny that ethnic related crime is a problem and demand that their opponents provide proof that it exists. But it is the multiculturalists themselves who have succeeded in suppressing this information.

'Too many of the supporters of those appointees fail to recognise that organisations like the Institute of Public Affairs, or people who share non-Labor outlooks, are a legitimate part of our civil society, entitled to participate fully in the political processes'.

Yes, this is a key point lost on many in the humanities.
