Some voters may be concerned about any change in
government. It's a question of "The devil you know."
type of thing and they don't want to risk any
changes.

It is true that we don't know what we've got until
we lose it but it's also true that we don't know
what we've been missing until it arrives.

SR,

I see that you are lying and being deceitful again. I did not say over a decade ago. As for GL, there is no record of her involvement in anything that compromises Australia. So as yet there is nothing to apologize for.

Secondly, Richard Marles has been actively compromising Australia and even went as far as getting the Chinese Ambassador to vet one of his speeches.

Why are you and Foxy being apologists for this treasonous behaviour of the ALP deputy?

shadowminister,

The facts are on the web regarding Gladys Liu.

But I guess - winning at all costs is what matters
in politics. The truth doesn't

Foxy,

The facts are freely available on the internet on Richard Marles actively pushing the CCP's agenda against Australian interests. Yet you freely endorse him.

On the web, there is a long list of statements that GL has made that are critical of the CCP. Not something that the Labor party can claim.

"In July 2019, Liu backed anti-government protesters in her birthplace of Hong Kong, lauding their “passion and commitment to democracy”. She told The Australian she firmly endorsed the protest movement and its aims. “As a proud Hong Kong-born Australian, my position has been clear,” Ms Liu said.

In May 2020, Liu penned an op-ed for The Age in which she supported the Coalition Government's call for an independent inquiry into the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also stressed that Chinese-Australians ought not to be the victims of scapegoating, and noted that the Chinese-Australian community had responded early and compassionately after the outbreak, following isolation protocols and donating to hospitals and non-profit organisations.[15]

In a separate interview with The Age also published in May 2020, Liu criticised Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and the Labor Party for their 2018 Memorandum of Understanding with China, which nominally signed up the state as part of the Belt and Road initiative. The most important thing is, what are Victorians, what are Australians getting out of it? How many jobs have the projects been able to provide? What are these companies getting these projects? Have [the projects] been put up for public tender? Do they pay Australian tax? We don't know. If there is a benefit, then show us."[16]

In November 2020, Liu joined with several other Australian MPs in condemning the disqualification by China of four members of the Hong Kong Legislative Council. Liu told The Sydney Morning Herald, she was saddened by the move as it meant "the democracy that I enjoyed is disappearing".[17]

shadowminister,

Sorry - don't buy it.

From 2003 to 2015 is a heck of a long time to be
a member supporting the CCP. And then not recall it
until found out.
Arranging dinner parties
and helping well known CCP Chinese business men get a
foothold into the Liberal sphere of influence and power
is all a bit suss for me.

Of course it's all going to be brushed over.
It suits both sides to do so.

Foxy,

You don't buy it and never will mostly because you don't need anything to confirm your prejudices. You have still failed to show a single thing that GL has done or said against the interests of Aus.

However, Richard Marles who like Sam Darstardly has given the tick to China's annexation of others' territory in the South China sea, you are deliberately blind.
