I've been watching both "The Insiders," and ABC News
this morning - fascinated with the events that
unfolded.

An election has been called. May 21st 2022. Voters will
now have to decide between Scott Morrison or Anthony
Albanese as their Prime Minister. The ABC tells us that
"both men have spent part of their lives in politics, but
come May 21st one will be PM and the other will likely face
the end of his political career."

It's pointed out that "Scott Morrison heads to the election
as the first PM since John Howard more than 14 years ago to
serve a full term as a nation's leader. The man trying to
stop him from securing the Coalition a 4th term is Labor's
Anthony Albanese, a 26 year veteran of the federal
government."

What do we really know about both men? One is probably
better known to voters than the other. Does that mean that
one has a better chance of winning? "The devil you know...?"

Interesting times ahead.

Hmm, nope. ScoMo is not a president and this is not a presidential vote. People vote for a representative of *their* electorate to represent *them* in parliament.

In theory you're right, but not in practice;
I wouldn't vote for a SocMo supporter to represent me in my electorate.

As thinkabit says; as I have said on occasion, only about 100,000 voters in Morrison's electorate will decide his fate; similarly for Albanese. It is not inconceivable that both could get the flick. The party rooms, not the voters decide who the PM will be. This is something the wannabe republicans never mention: we do not get to choose our leader.
