The business of the pub is not being a free venue for crackpots to vent their spleen. No more than should Morrison's fundo Church be a venue for someone wanting to shout the best ways to have gay sex.

If this pub is a venue that welcomes crackerjacks to sprook their views with an open mic then this guy should be let come on up. Otherwise tell him go elsewhere.

Looks like the owners seem to be happy to hold meetings from the Engineers Australia Quiz Group and the Tas Linux Users Group. Maybe Engineers Australia and the Linux community are allowing themselves to be influenced by wokeness- I hope that they will cancel their bookings at Shambles when they see the owners attitude to Free Speech.

CM, if the pub refused to serve this bloke beer because of his views, then I'd be against the pub. The Engineers having a private room paid for to conduct a private event, is different to Pilmer wanting to conduct a free meeting in the public space of the pub.

BTW how do you feel about the Gay Sex Mob conducting a meeting with demo's in the public space of Morrison's Fudo Church? While the happy clappers look on.

As I said, some businesses have become more political than the politicians. If people want a beer, groceries or a new shirt, that's what they want, not politics, which already intrudes on their lives far too much.

Big business can probably get away with being woke because there is no personal contact with board rooms. When small business tries it on, things are different: more competition, more choice and more of them after your dollar. In face to face transactions, you cannot afford to piss off potential customers. Many of these small businesses who go broke don't do so because of hard times, Covid or red tape: they can't cut the mustard because they don't know how to deal with customers. Whoever actually owns the Shambles should be getting themselves a new manager.
