A fourth term is a big ask, especially for a government that is virtually leaderless.

The Liberal Party should have in its DNA that it is the party of small government, of individual opportunity, of personal responsibility. Yet everywhere Australians have been subjected to government overreach at the expense of individual liberty during Covid. Small businesses should never have been shut while corporates were allowed to remain open and prosper at the expense of individual and family-owned enterprises.

The National Cabinet has been a dispiriting example of the worst kind of federalism. The the politics of fear has shamelessly been exploited. The National Cabinet has been something for Morrison to hide behind - along with the 'experts'. Fearmongering, authoritarianism is the name of the game.

David Flint wonders if Morrison wants to lose the election, "surrendering to" net zero emissions as he has done, very possibly causing Liberal supporters to place their first preferences "with newer parties supporting older values".

He goes on to mention:

Higher cost of living
Crowded capital cities
Housing unaffordability
Mass immigration
Stagnant wages

And, we could see desertion of both major parties, who have "swept aside the principal safeguards in the constitutional system bequeathed to us by the British and which Australians have enjoyed for over one and a half centuries".

ttbn, can we expect another one of your Corny Banana parties, some time soon? You know the type it scored almost half a percent of the vote at the last election. Dillbrain Dave can be its leader, with all the little conserves falling in behind.

According to The Australian Financial Review - the
federal election of 2022 is not decided at all.
There's pluses and minuses on both sides of politics.

We know that the Prime Minister is a better campaigner
than the leader of the Opposition. And he can point to
the fact that after two years of COVID most people
have got jabbed and the high vaccination rates mean
that most people are now safe from serious illness.

As restrictions have eased we're seeing an economic
rebound and "the fastest monthly job growth in
Australian history."

But of course there are many twists to be solved.
Employment is currently high because migration is low
but the government is going to have to bring in some
skilled migrants in or put growth at risk. Global
bank interest rates are set to rise. There's more
at the following:

So many unknowns still ahead.

Will both leaders be able to unite their parties and have them
stand behind them? We'll have to wait and see.

For the long term future of any party, if not Oz & it's people, the next election could be a very good one to lose.
