I am certainly not a fan of everything Senator Lambie does, says or stands for.

But I think her speech attacking One Nation's anti-vax rhetoric hit the nail on the head.

http://youtu.be/VSldjsHs1WY

Delivered with typical bluntness and passion it has struck a chord with many Australians and I commend her for it.

I'm with you on this Steele. I said so on here the day after Jacqui made her speech.

"Wow, didn't Jacqui Lambie give the 'Hanson Bill' a serve in the Senate yesterday, I've never seen Jacqui so fired up, didn't know she had it in her, I like the gal. My reliable source tells me that personally Jacqui can't stand the Lovely Pauline. Given the opportunity I may not vote for Jacqui, but I certainly wouldn't put her last on the list."

That was followed with; "DISGRACEFUL, Pauline Hanson's acolyte and all round One Nation scumbag Malcolm Roberts has publically leaked Jacqui Lambie's private mobile number. Yesterday Jacqui was subjected to outrageous abuse from nutjobs, probably One Nation, Palmer people and ratbags from the Liberal right, texting in the foulest of language."

One of the Forums nutjobs then described Jacqui as drunk, and heat in the kitchen rubbish. Of course that nutjob wouldn't make his number public, now would he for fear of abuse.

It isn't the reluctance to get the vaccine that concerns me so much as the wilful disregard of public health directives to stop covid spreading. Trying to get 100% with anything is pie in the sky in a democracy. Anti-vaxers are a danger to themselves. I don't see much benefit from vilifying them.

It's a national embarrassment that anyone like her Lambie can actually be in our parliament. Eligibility and quotas for the Senate need to be revised. It's not what she says, but how she says it. I've seen similar performances by 2 year olds in supermarkets, screeching and kicking on the floor because mummy won't by them something they want.

On the real business of Covid and yea or nay to vaccination, not some loony in the Senate, I suppose the new strain from Africa might just be coincidental at a time when China is becoming more involved in that continent.

I'm surprised that anyone takes this intellectual pinhead Lambie seriously. Her logic is flawed, her examples are trite and it looks like she is struggling to read the text that someone else has probably prepared for her. For example, the same cringe-worthy logic could be used to claim that abortion is a choice and that women who choose not to abort should bear the consequences alone.

But then the left commonly heaps praise on all those that promote their doctrine irrespective of the idiocy of their arguments, how else would a retarded teenager get lionised.

While I firmly believe in the vaccination process and have had my entire family double vaccinated months ago, the exclusion of the unvaccinated from employment and society in general needs to be very carefully considered as the consequences may very well outweigh the benefits, something Lambie's fatuous diatribe did not consider.

SM,

I don't know why you are surprised. Look who put up the topic. Look at the spontaneous first responses. And, people actually had to vote to get that wild woman into the Senate

We've certainly had and continue to have "colourful" characters
in our Parliament from Barnaby Joyce, to Katter, to Pauline
Hanson, et al. Who can forget Ms Hanson's wearing the
Burqa in Parliament? And of course all these characters
have provided momentous moments for us to varying degrees.

I did not see Jacqui Lambie's speech - however I have
read it. She is entitled to her opinion - as are the
other "colourful" characters. They did after all get elected
and do represent certain constituents.

I dislike terms like - the "loony left" or "right-wing."
To me it's a way of changing the subject.

It is a way of demonstrating that
a person may actually have a point but you don't know how
to answer them -so you try to distract by labelling people.
People often accuse - but they can't illuminate.
And labels are an easy and lazy way of changing the subject.

Not everyone agreed with Jacqui Lambie. Five MPs crossed the
floor in support of the government. However the bill was
defeated.

Our parliament would be very much duller and boring without
people like Lambie, and other "colourful" characters in it.

Talking about "colourful" characters ...
Does anyone remember Scott Morrison bringing in
a lump of coal into Parliament? A man who's now
our PM. Sometimes being "colourful" pays off.

I believe Pauline has gone over to the Dark Side.

If you remember when she first started off she had a bloke that helped her gain fame, notoriety & followers. Once she had a goodly number of seats he tried to take over the Party.

The second time she had a bloke who helped her with her finances. He took of with the money & left her holding the bag, so to speak.

This time, she has two, supposedly disgraced LNP people helping her. They have turned her away from her Voting Base. Big, or just Business wants to open up, whole us bolus so they can make money. I believe These people are supporting her with her Finances so she is supporting them. On the advice of the two ex LNP's

The people, in the last election, voted to keep the Borders closed. Pauline wanted them open. Her Voting Base supported keeping them closed. It cost her at least two seats in the Queensland Government.

Exactly going to plan for the Ex-LNP members. The same thing will happen with the coming Federal Election.

I do believe the only reason the two ex NLP members are pretending to support Pauline & advising her is to ensure she loses her Voting Base completely, as per the prearranged plan from inside the NLP.

Prove me wrong. I've lost faith in her too.

Shadowminister,

Oh you poor little bitter child. A gratuitous use of the word retard to get a rise out of us. Have we hurt your feelings too often and now that is your only defense? Lashing out because you have been spanked and humiliated once too often?

There there young fellow, most people grow out of such pouty little things but something has obviously served to retard your growth in that area.

Never mind. Lol.

Dear Steele,

I've got a question for you that has nothing to do with
Jacqui Lambie's speech - so I apologise ahead of time.
But I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help that you
(or anyone else) could give me.

I've got a grandson wo's 12th Birthday is in late January.
And I asked him what he wanted for his Birthday? Much to my
surprise in stead of Lego - he's come up with - the
Asus ROG strix G10DK Gaming Desktop (Rizen 5) (GTX 1650)
supposedly available from JB Hi Fi.

This is quite an expensive buy. I suggested to him (feeling
lousy) that I could give him some money towards the gift
but that he'd have to save up for it himself and possibly
could get it by Christmas next year.

Do you know anything about gaming desktops? What should I do?

SR,

As usual, the first to start with the personal insults. I guess that is due to poor self-esteem due to your micropenis. Or it could be a reaction to the treatment of advanced syphillus.

Who knows, but anyone that can't see the difference between deliberately breaking the law and not getting vaccinated is retarded.

Jacqui used some poor examples and false general statements, but was overall correct in stating that people ought to be responsible for their choices.

Self defense against infection is quite legitimate and people are well within their moral boundaries to demand that everyone be vaccinated WITHIN THEIR OWN MORAL JURISDICTION.
Thus anyone may require, if so they wish, that everyone entering their home or business (including employees) be vaccinated and the public may similarly require everyone (including public servants/contractors) to be vaccinated in given public spaces where they might come in physical contact with others.

However, while in Australia most measures to demand vaccination were appropriate, some states have overstepped their moral jurisdiction when also demanding vaccination within private spaces.

Nobody, including states, may legitimately attempt to "protect" those who never (explicitly or implicitly) sought their protection against a given "danger", viruses included.

Thus decrees to forbid private practices by unvaccinated people (such as independent doctors, teachers, shopkeepers, etc.) from providing services to willing customers, is beyond moral limits. It would still be reasonable though, to demand that such unvaccinated practices place a clear sign on their door in order to avoid misleading the public: "unvaccinated business, you may enter at your own risk". Same for visiting friends and relatives so long as the latter are aware that the visitor is not vaccinated.

Fester, taking the jab doesn't stop you from acquiring covid 19 or spreading it. As I understand it both vaccinated & unvaccinated can have the same viral load. Only the symptoms can be that mild the vaccinated can go around spreading it. Wnen they are recommending that you get vaccinated they don't tell you that. Why do you think that is so? When they don't tell you the full story I'm inclined to be very sceptical.

Hi Steele,

Watch out for any oddball, who likes to "talk dirty" to others, often incessantly talking about such things as paedophiles or penises and the like. A phycologist friend tells me it could be an attempt at self justification.

Thanks so much to both Mavers and Jayb - for your
responses regarding my grandson's gaming PC.

My husband is dead set against it.
Personally I'm leaning towards
helping him by contributing towards the cost -
simply because he's started a youtube channel
and would like to have
something good to run games and edit videos.

I think he should be encouraged to do it. And we as
grand-parents should at least contribute something
towards granting him his wish. His parents should
also contribute.

Dear Foxy,

Apologies for the tardy reply.

Yes your grandson has expensive tastes for a 12 year old but it is an impressive bit of kit. Keep in mind he will still be up for monitor, gaming keyboard and sound system unless he already has them.

What I did in a similar situation is to ask the person to go get prices on two cheaper alternatives with similar specifications then ask them to justify why they wanted to spend the extra. That way I at least knew some research had gone into the purchase and that is wasn't all about keeping up with others.

The other thing to consider is whether a gaming laptop might be an option. The portability could mean it then doubles as a school computer.

The only other things I would add is that Asus is a reasonable brand and the unit he is looking at should last him a fair while before needing to be updated.

Dear Steele,

Thanks for the reply.

It does appear that my grandson has done his research.
And his explanations make sense. He's very keen on
the Asus ROG Strix G10DK Gaming desktop (Ryzen 7)
RTX 3070.

We've decided to talk to his father (our son) about all the
options available. And see what our son thinks.

Thank You for all of your advice. It has been most helpful.

The far right misogynistic LIBERAL PARTY Senator David Van has apologised "unreservedly" after being identified as the dog whistler who was making snorting noises like a pig as Jacqui Lambie spoke in the Senate yesterday. Why would any woman, or thinking man, vote for this party of misogynists?

Dear Steele,

Well we've spoken to our regarding our grandson's gaming PC.

Our son has explained that he wants our grandson to focus saving
for his gaming desktop. It's something that our grandson really
wants but our son wants him to earn it.

Apparently our grandson is getting a new laptop which he needs
for high school (he's starting high school next year). Our son
says this will help our grandson with his video editing.
The PC that our grandson wants is apparently more for gaming
which our son does not want as a distraction until he settles
in at high school.

We'll help our grandson by periodically putting money into
his savings account and encouraging him to save as well.

Yes, that sort of behaviour gives others a bad name
as well. The PM and others within the party need to
call it out. And apparently they must have done that
forcing the MP in question - to apologise "unreservedly."

Dear Paul1405,

My reading of it says it was dog growling noises but nonetheless it does beggar belief given how much we pay this lot that they would be so petty and abusive toward other parliamentarians.

The toxicity toward women which pervades the Coalition ranks is very evident and this is just another manifestation. They really need showing the door don't they.

so sorry there Steele,

LIBERAL Senator What's-His-Name indeed was growling like a dog, and not oinking like a pig. This unknown fool sitting in the Senate for Victoria since 2019 had not been seen or heard of until yesterday. Although a Liberal colegue who sits next to Senator Van said he does fart regulaly and they can be heard (and smelt) around the chamber. When asked what contrbution he had made since entering the Senate, Senator Van said "Plenty! Who do you think puts the fresh date rolls in Scotty's dunny, ME!"
