Nope Fester, the ACCC is not exactly irrational.

What you will have is when large international charity
business, which raises tens of millions of $ a year,
attacks an industry made up of mainly small woolgrowers
and makes an ass of the law in the process, the ACCC
can act on behalf of those woolgrowers. Fair enough!

I dont like the idea of a publicly funded organisation, at its discretion, undertaking civil action on behalf of plaintiffs. I dont doubt that there are instances where this might be good, but the undesirable possibilities worry me.

I also wonder whether you are chuffed at the possibility of the ACCC protecting woolgrowers? Do you think that they might extend this protection to all primary producers? For example, do you think they might challenge the practices of major retailers and manufacturers to get a higher price for primary produce? Do you think that retailers might be forced to inform their customers how long the produce has been in storage, what chemical processes have been used, or its origin?

"I also wonder whether you are chuffed at the possibility of the ACCC protecting woolgrowers?"

In this case, of course I'm happy about it! The ACCC in fact has
plenty to do, so I don't see why they would want to get involved in
trivial cases. But when you have a large, multinational organisation,
trying to destroy an industry made up of lots of mainly little people,
knowing full well that legal costs would bog them down, so there is
not much that they can do about it, then it surely is the Govts role
to protect those people, if they are acting lawfully.

If the claims made by Peta were at least truthfull, that would be
one thing. But if they can say anything they like with impunity,
then we clearly have a problem.

So good on Costello for defending the small Aussie guy, who is abiding by the law, against
large multinationals.

Eh.....Yabby

I'm quite accustomed to your failure to address my questions, however, could you please address the other questions Fester has posed?

Sorry . Which letter? If you tell me which letter I will post it for you.

Oh Yabbs.
Still reading too many Government web sites. So the ACCC[according to you] just want to protect some poor little people now do they now?

As you have such wonderful faith in the ACCC to protect under "priverledged" do you think you could ask them to include protecting dissablied people?

Because when I asked them they refused!

The fact that Costello wants a law to TRY to stop PETA or anybody else informing the public of cruel Animal practises shows they ARE cruel or nobody would worry about it. FACT.

Fester here`s how it works- You have a group of small battling farmers left in Australia who have been bullied out of the industry by these new age jerks that know bugger all about animals and care less.

Then you have the middleman or agent. He makes his money by dealing with misery of animals and shipping them off to countries where they are even less laws for animal welfare.

" Few of the staff on ships are Australian owned so its not like we are keeping people in jobs.

Overseas DONT buy animals live for religous purposes or because there is new fridges THEY BUY OUR JOBS.

The jobs to shear the sheep or skin the tans, bi- products and so forth. - Our Kids future.

The Low lifes involved in this barbaric trade are getting worried and annoyed that depite the fact they "thought they had most of the media and Government covered "PETA and others have managed to inform the public about the THRUTH.

They are really annoyed and being so close to an election I can imagine it went something like this.>
We donate heavily to your party but we are concerned as to "what you are going to do about these horrible Animal Welfare groups TELLING THE TRUTH!"
Cant you introduce a law or something!??
