Yabby,
Nobody wants to be thought of as gullible but i do like to consider all sides of the discussion if I can.
The peta article I saw was a sickening one about why we sould not eat fish.
They make these pieces so graphic that it more than gets their point across.
No, i will not be gullible on this one, hopefully open-minded.

Mulesing:

Mulesing is often performed on the animal simultaneously with other procedures such as ear marking, tail docking and vaccination.

The animal's breech is cut away from the perianal region and down to the hindlimbs.

In addition, authorities are concerned with the rate of arthritis in mulesed lambs where this disease is seven fold in mulesed animals, owing to the wounds which allows for the bacteria to access the body.

I guess it's OK to salivate over Sunday's roast lamb which has been crippled with arthritis?

Taildocking:

A portion of the tail is chopped off, rubber ringed or removed with a heated searing iron. The remaining tail stump is then skinned!

Of course all these procedures are preferable to witnessing a fly blown animal, however, there remains not an analgesia, local anaesthetic or general anaesthetic to be found anywhere, to alleviate the pain and stress on these animals!

Oddly enough, this industry protests at the cost of anaesthesia but somehow managed to squander some $10 million to go after PETA!

When you gather up all the bits of skin and the tail from the above prodecures, particularly from older lambs, one could be forgiven for describing the mess of blood and flesh as a decent size "chunk!"

Oh yes.......Captain Smirks will not be forgiven for endeavouring to silence those sufficiently courageous to publicly object to these medieval procedures.

Psst.....Yabby, my dog loves vegetable stews - eleven years old and runs like a race horse!

We could discuss this topic at length, with people who are are least
a little informed, but we'll just get back to accuracy.

When are "chunks of flesh" removed by mulesing? Why do Peta claim
this over and over, when they know its not correct?

More donations in their kitty perhaps, as they try to push peoples
emotional buttons?

Good on Costello for finally shutting up such dishonesty!

Thank you for being fair minded.
Lets face it farming is pretty cruel which ever way you look at it.[ In my opinion]

We breed these cute intellergent innocent little creatures to chop their heads off and EAT them.

Pretty gross put that way .

The difference between PETA and PALE is that pale acknowledges we will never stop people eating meat and we are sympthatic to farmers.

When the price of meat at Woolworths goes UP usually you can be sure the farmer gets LESS.

We want to improve standards by working within the industry together with Animal Welfare groups and ethical operators.

We believe every Animal Welfare group[ or their leaders ] should have practicle hands on expereince to gain a better insight of things from the farmers prospective.

We are especially concerned about the anti attitude towards farmers from these veggie groups. It turns main stream people away from all groups.

We are all branded as extreme which does not help us to improve Animals welfare.

PETA have gone some "good things but we are concerned by their attitude.

You cant have an opinion with PETA.

Dr Hugh Wirth from RSPCA said a few years ago- You cant talk to these people because they think they walk on a higher moral ground.

Thats fine but with people being told not to eat meat or wear anything made from Animal skins it backfires on the very animals we are trying to help.

We love Animals enough to promote the re opening of abattoirs HEREin Australia and MAKE SURE its done as kindly as possibly because standing at a warf with a sign BAN LIVE EXPORTS doesnt help.

PETA raise a lot of donations regarding live exports but refuse to work on alternatives to fix it.
Common sense makes one a bit sceptical to be honest Goddess.
Anyway back on topic.

Did anyone hear Kevin Andrews on the radio today saying he was supporting and encouraging FREE SPEECH?

Guess they must have forgotton to tell Peter Costello about that one!
funny As.

Sorry this is not related to the subject of your thread, just wondering can I upload that letter on the forum? JPG file, how? Is there any limit for space here?

So if Dickie and his mates stand outside a rug store waving placards claiming that some of the rugs were made by slave children then the ACCC would jump to the rescue and sue the wicked placard wavers? Great stuff.

I see a law like this as political and redundant. So next time a McLibel happens the Australian Government will pick up the tab for Big Business against a few social crusaders. How charitable, but I will miss the spectacle of the plaintiffs spending millions against a few citizens and only succeeding at making total tossers of themselves.
