So a researcher linking morbidity to the consumption of a fast food chain's product could lead to the researcher being sued if the fast food chain loses income as a result of the research? And a researcher linking smoking to illness could likewise be sued by a tobacco company? I hope that the legislation is made retrospective so that such fine institutions can sue the wicked scientists who cost them so much money.

Yabby, I'm not missing the point. This has been dressed up as protecting the AWI against the big evil naked people (PETA), however the wider effect of the legislation is that it creates a massive chilling effect for anyone who even considers boycotting companies that don't meet their ethical standards.

"Thank You!"

Yabby just because yourself and Dickie - dont agree on some issues of Animal Welfare that does not mean the others dont have a good counter argument.

So this means nobody will be able to complain about the price of petrol either.

Let me Tell You about Peter Costell`s office AND the ACCC.

We contacted the ACCC and Peters office about a loop hole and gross lack of protection in the law regarding loan shark companies lending dissablied people funds.

People are loosing their homes because they are loaned money to use to employ lawyers.

The banking Onbudsman Commission have no laws against this and claim if they are not members there is nothing they can do.[ cute set up]?

So we asked Peter Costellos office and the ACCC to introduce something to protect these people who do not understand what they sign and get conned and loose everything.

ACCC Dont want to know about it.
Peter Costellos office dont either.

The Government cant use the ACCC or anybody else to stop freedom of speech Yabby.

You and I understand that we need farmers to work together with Animal Welfare people and I am angry with PETA for causing so much bad blood and warned them it would lead to this type of trouble for the rest of us. That does NOT mean they dont have a right to speech along with the people of Australia.

To stop freedom of speech "in one area only" shows that the Government KNOW IT and want to hide their favouite party donations buddies sins. ITS CORRUPT!
I PERSONALLY ask EVERBODY to buy non animal tested Shampoo!

WE are very dissapointed with Mr Costello because we THOUGHT he might lead us in the future and see its best he updates the Animal Welfare of Australia.
Personally I am shattered because we THOUGHT he was going to show much better leadership.

We even wrote asking him to take over as PM a couple of years ago.

I guess we got it wrong along with AFIC.

James and P Dox

James I agree with most of what you say however I am not so sure about calling PETA evil.
A man women group or Government can only be judged on their intentions.
If intentions are good anything can be worked out.

I cant understand why PETA do put their millions into fast food veggie stores and free range farms and build plants close to those farms to process stock in the most humane way possible instead of attacking farmers.

Give farmers OPTIONS instead of attacking them because they Government are to blame NOT farmers.
Take conntrol of the market is the answer. Put the cruel bullies out of business.

With Governments contacts and insentives encouraging business from with overseas- theres no reason why all pig farms poultry etc could not be Free Range.

Australian products are sought after world wide because of our disease free green reputation.

Tell you what however if we keep going with these intensive cruel poulrty pig farms and feed lots we will loose it.

The Government are too SACRED to do the RIGHT thing by our Animals because they are scared of loosing their donations from those few people who are powerful in Australia and make their money out of animals misery.

Rudd wont say boo either for the same reasons.

What people dont seem to remember living in the city is that Agriculture is still the back bone of this country.

Sooner or later the mines will run out but farming has to survive.

PETA has good intentions and consider Animals Welfare BUT they must learn to work with farmers not against them.
Use their funds to introduce Free Range Farms and re open abattoirs and REALISE! they will never stop people eating meat but they could make it a lot kinder.
Until they learn to comprimise we will that wont see their actions are not doing anything other than getting them donations.

I cant see how that helps while the Government change laws to make it harder for Australians to protest Animal Cruelty.

PURCHASE NON ANIMAL TESTED PRODUCTS

Dickie

Dickie said
I sincerely trust the owners of abortion clinics will consider appealing to the ACCC against those groups boycotting their clinics, which has the potential to reduce the profits of this industry.

PALE replies.
Well said Dickie!
Although we wouldn`t like to upset "their good Christian standards" now would we?
It never fails to amaze me that these two faced hypricrits can go on about something that is less than a half a grain of what and none of they dam business but "ignore barbaric cruelty to animals".

BTW Dickie Speaking of The Government changing the law I suppose you have heard they are talking about making Australia a Ritual Slaughter Country with no Pre stunning have you?

We should put the blame at the feet of where it belongs.

The Australian Government who deal direct with other Governments and have not got the balls to say NO.

Actually its worse than that Dickie because we have met with many off shore leaders and although they might carry on in the begining if you say no they usually comprimise.

We had leaders from The Malaysian Government prepaired to spend a lot of money to introduce Gas into plants for larger animals similar to the Neverlands.

So why didnt it go ahead?

The Government didnt even TRY to enforce or encourage it and AFIC didnt bother to include it or us at the meetings despite our MOU with the Government either.

Not that AFIC make these final calls thats done between AQIS and JAKIM etc.
Thing is Dickie nobody cares. Once it left us it was forgotton.

We invited PETA WSPA Animals Australia to join us at all these meetings but no interest.
So what are they going to do? Stop everybody eating meat? I think not.

Could be we need some new leaders not only in the Government but Animal Welfare.

BAN ANIMAL TESTED SHAMPOOS!
FREEDOM OF SPEECH YOU WILL NEVER STOP MR COSTELLO
