'Runner, making it up again, no one said; "2 million WOULD die in the US and 150000 here in Australia",'

yeah Paul and making it up that the democrats opposed the China ban while the who announced no human to human transmission. The regressives just ignore their previous lie and move on to the next. But then again 'experts' are allowed to have totally flawed modelling as long their regressive leaders can increase their levels of tyranny. Yep with Cuomo using his power to send covid into aged care, Anna stopping children attending their parents funerals and Dan's draconian lockdowns causing more death than other states and massive mental health issues you must be so proud of the response. Oh sorry that's right its nothing to do with saving lives just tyranny for dictators hiding behind hopelessly incompetent medical bureacrats.

So make up it is, eh SR?

1. In Australia death rates show its less dangerous or deadly than a normal flu season. You shouldn't equate the level government and media hype with the relative danger of the issue.

2. "your utter lack of understanding of the 95% confidence level" You never did get that issue, did you? Well we've seen plenty of other times when the numbers baffled you. It wasn't that I didn't know what those levels were, it was just that the point I was making was peripheral to those numbers. I know it went over you head and, sadly still does.

3. I said it won't cause millionS of deaths and you think that's wrong when its yet to cause even 1 million. Bottom of the barrel?

4. Fatality rates - now you're not even trying. Or is it that even here the numbers baffle you? You CAN'T calculate the IFR in the way you've done it. The number of diagnosed cases is just a fraction of the estimated number of actual cases. The CDC says the IFR is somewhere around 0.3%. The WHO is similar. What you've done there is bonkers and, as is your wont, you'll now drop it. Besides Victoria is a particularly badly administered locale so not representative of the whole. What you done is confuse the Case fatality rate with the Incidence Fatality rate. But when you mix numbers and SR, confusion reigns supreme.

Can't help but notice that you've pretend to not notice all the monumental errors you made in this thread alone.

Dear mhaze,

Lol.

Ah you really are a slippery sod aren't to, unashamedly so by the look of it.

You claimed; “WHO was giving a fatality rate of 3.4%”

What they actually said was “Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died”.

That is the CFR which is what I also referenced in regard to Victoria.

Look how you replied; “You CAN'T calculate the IFR in the way you've done it.”

We were discussing the Case Fatality Ratio and you attempted in your response to swing it to the Infection Fatality Ratio. Two quite different things. Quite dishonest of you of course but nothing new.

So you either misrepresented the WHO figures in the original conversation, or you recognised how you had stuffed up and tried to pull a little swifty to get yourself off the hook.

“the point I was making was peripheral to those numbers” That did get a belly laugh.

I had forgotten how much fun this is. What else you got for us?

Just to clarify: at the beginning of the year, even well into February, nobody knew how dangerous this virus was, or could be, or would be. Some made light of it -'nothing worse than the flu' - and others did the maths and suggested that, if it got out of control (with the Black Plague and the Spanish Flu in mind), it COULD cause millions of deaths. So for Christ's sake, act now.

Okay, so yes, even on current projections it WILL cause millions of deaths. Many countries did bugger-all early on, and incurred many thousands of deaths, Britain, France, Italy, Brazil, Sweden, the US. Some went through the motions of imposing conditions and are still counting the deaths, with the curve (remember the curve ?) still going up or flat. Some relaxed restrictions too early and are now counting the deaths in their second wave, Britain, France, Spain.

Some are now minimising the number of Covid-related deaths by counting them as dying of other morbidity causes. Some leaders cover their eyes and - bingo ! much fewer deaths. I suspect all manner of other methods of minimising deaths and opening up economies as early as possible will be attempted, since, after all, we can't have businesses going broke.

Long way to go yet, folks.

Joe

Please guys don't attend any relatives funeral this year as 1182 people died in accidents in 2019. And that is not counting those maimed. Wake up Australia.
