The payment to Abbott is from a defined benefit superannuation scheme.

So not a pension as such, despite the lazy language from those with more hate than knowledge.

Is Abbott the first ex-PM to have earned monies after leaving parliament while getting a 'pension'? I wonder why there weren't calls for those others to have their 'pension' withdrawn?

Haters gotta hate.

Nah, the truth always outs out.

And there have been calls for many clarifications
regarding the privileges of our former PMs.
One has to only do a bit of research. Except some
refuse to see what they don't want.

The same goes for Mr Abbott's pension. Again - research
is the key word. And it's not a question of hate. In
some cases it's simply a question of intellectual
laziness. Hate being bandied about is a technique often
used by the demented - who have nothing else on offer.

Foxy,

Tony Abbott is doing exactly what people of his kind do: they milk the system for all it's worth.

Keep in mind he is a lawyer. Lawyers are one of the most disrespected people in society and the fact that politics is full of lawyers shouldn't surprise any of us. And in politics and business I think Abbott is doing exactly what he would be doing if he was working as a lawyer: milking the system for all he can get out of it.

I just hope he stays in the UK forever. He can show the Brits how to eat raw unpeeled onions and do really bizarre television interviews where he pretends he is brain-dead.
