Dear Shadow Minister,

You wrote this bit of rubbish;

"Secondly with the UK being the 2nd biggest and one of the fastest growing economies in the EU"

Rot!

The pom's economy has tanked under the tories. The UK is in the bottom 10% of GDP growth in Europe.

Click here and sort by last.

Shadow Minister what rot!.
Truth is [as it is in part here] the working class abandoned Labour.
Corbyn brought the very left with him, they together took the party in to places workers no longer want to go
Painful? well not to me but to those dreaming of a left of reality government here and there yes very much so

SR,

Are you seriously that stupid that you can take a snapshot of one quarter and use that as the benchmark for this century? You are indeed one slippery dick.

Look at these: over 25yrs:

https://tradingeconomics.com/united-kingdom/gdp-growth-annual
https://tradingeconomics.com/denmark/gdp-growth-annual
https://tradingeconomics.com/france/gdp-growth-annual
https://tradingeconomics.com/germany/gdp-growth-annual
https://tradingeconomics.com/italy/gdp-growth-annual

The UK growth compares favourably to any of these other major economies.

SM,

Yep. Very true. When you said the UK was the second biggest economy in Europe you were spot on.

As to GDP, (cherry-)picking one quarter and one of the many versions of the data shows a lack of rigour.

You might also want to look at the UK v. Germany in terms of GDP to better show your point....

You can generate these charts from the "tradingeconomics.com" site you linked above. There is a 'compare' button that allows you to load two countries side by side.

Dear mhaze,

Lol.

So you have posted a graph showing the UK economy has entered negative territory 5 times since the GFC all under the tories while the Germany economy didn't go there once, and you are saying it proves Shadow Minister's point not mine?

Get real.

SR,

Well the graph can't be used as you are trying to do. The UK numbers are quarterly and the German numbers annual. Even so it should be clear to anyone even vaguely numerate that the UK performance has outpaced that of Germany.

But standard SR here. Seek out some ambiguity and pretend its consequential.

Here's a better rendering of the comparison showing both country's annual performance...

Oh, look SR. There was a period there back in 2011 when the Germans were doing better than the Brits. Tell us how that's the really important number.
