Paul1405 Still wearing a bib at your advanced age I surmise that by the amount of dribble from you.

As usual you can't comment on the subject so attack the author.

Phil, all I see is this dysfunctional Coalition scoring own goals. That is reflected in the latest opinion polls, 50 losses in a row for the Wombats. If they were a football team they would be relegated to tenth division where they belong.

Poor Mark Latham has shown himself to be unhinged, needs psychiatric help. I can't help him with that.

If there are Australians of British heritage that are having difficulties staying in the workforce we need to be helping them rather than marginalising them further by bringing in competition for low paying jobs.

Why single out only those of British heritage
to help? Or are they the only ones having difficulties
getting jobs in this country? Why is that? Don't
others have that problem? Why not?

What are you proposing Canem Malum, a sign at the employment office which reads, wops, spicks, dagoes and assorted what not's to the back of the queue, fine British stock step forward.
Which group are you a member of?

In the fifties most of the people in Australia were British Australians. Since the fifties certain organizations and individuals have decided that it was in their best interest to bring in foreign workers rather than use the labour source in Australia. Perhaps they didn't forsee the long term consequences of this policy- perhaps this policy was implemented without a mandate. I would argue that this policy was not in the interests of the resident population / culture of the British Cultural residents. I believe that Australia being a creation of Britain is effectively the property of the British Culture hence British Australians. So people of other cultures present a conflict of principles for both British Australians and those that have arrived from other places.

As the Dalai Lama says "Europe is for the Europeans" not for the refugees or the immigrants.

A problem with the "contemporary nation concept" is the nation is seen as a business and tends to disregard the vested interest of the culture. While it is true that every entity needs to "balance the books" there are other principles that perhaps take precedence- for example where there is a conflict between the needs of finance and that of the "stability of the culture".

To me the work of Foxy's relatives were unwanted when considering the cost of the stability of the Australian British Culture.

But I can still appreciate Foxy's admiration for her migrated ancestors and their sacrifices just as I appreciate the sacrifices of my British ancestors. I'm sure both of us will try to hang on to the property we believe is ours.

I suspect we've lost the balance of the principles.

Independent of who is "right" I'm sure that the world would be more peaceful with less people. Then maybe we can both get what we want.

The great thing about sacrifices is if you can get the other party to make the sacrifice you win...
