jayb, history shows the Joh Bjelke-Petersen regime was not a government, but a criminal enterprise. The Al Capone of the mob was Peterson himself, assisted by a bunch of scumbags including Russ Hinze.

Anything that mob was involved in had criminality written all over it.
Do you know after 40 years, with the release of Cabinet papers, just how corrupt The National Party government in Queensland was in those days.

Paul had two Uncles [by marriage] both ran up and down the country using the run on water trick
And it was a trick
Many however think it could be done
Both had real inventions that did work
Both lived in Queensland but came from NSW
Frauds exist and are always self promoters

Paul, no, even I could not build this thing in the time frame given. No I had at least a couple of 'hands on' people doing the actual cutting, bending, welding, ie; the construction and assembly, as is customary in any such industry.
I simply designed and managed the project/car.
I wish my father was still alive, he did so much more than I can even remember, he played with water as fuel experiments, after nearly blowing himself up, he declared that he could not find a power source big/compact enough to put in a car, to extract enough Hydrogen to be used as a fuel for cars.
For safety reasons his design was to have the water broken down into Hydrogen and Oxygen as close to the inlet manifold as possible, so as to eliminate any risk of an explosion, as Hydrogen is a very explosive gas.
He had strong convictions about the use of magnets as a means or source of power, and worked at trying to create a magnetic motor, or what is better known as a 'perpetual motion machine'.
I believe (by rumours) that such things are now commonplace, but not with magnets, just gravity.
I might suggest a look at the dates on the Ohrberg article.
His first and last attempt at the longest 'car' in the world was, say early eighties.
The longest 'limousine' in the world is listed as being built in the ninety's.
I also wish to make a correction/observation, that the article in the link provided used the word 'car' in describing the later 'articulated' version of the 'American Dream'.
This is in error and is merely journalistic laziness.
To which he either did not realise the true definition of a 'car' as opposed to an 'articulated' vehicle.
Mine could be driven around like a normal car, do figure eights and so on.
Orhbergs could not.
In it's 'normal' state, it could only move back and forth in a straight line.
Anyway their were many factors which removed his from being the longest 'car' in the world.

Hi Belly, the laws of physics show it takes more energy to spit water into hydrogen and oxygen than is returned when the hydrogen is burned to form water again.
That with the criminal Bjelke-Petersen was a clumsy attempt to hoodwink possible investors into believing that some shonk had invented a car that ran on water. Petersen would have been in for a cut of the rip off.

Its strongly suspected the gas cylinder was in the boot.

Joh Bjelke-Petersen played the blithering idiot roll to perfection, with his comical quotes and religious clap trap. He even had his stupid wife in on the act, silly Flo with her pumpkin scones. This was to hide the cold hard criminal intent that was behind the funny mask.

Belly, they would not admit it now, but the older members of the Forum, those 'Usual Suspects' and 'Useful Idiots', you know who they are, 'would have fallen hook, line and sinker for the Petersen BS, dutifully falling in line, forming the chorus at the rear singing 'We Love You Joh, Oh! Yes We Do', as the criminal bandwagon paraded down the main street of Brisbane with Old Joh leading the way to Canberra, the Joh for PM push. Not satisfied with ripping off Queensland, they wanted to take over and rip off the whole bloody country!

Belly, BTW, for the sake of truth and disclosure, you are all aware of my opinions on the abo's and white trash losers' and how I believe they are rorting the system. (NOT all, only the 'bad' ones).
Well You will be pleased to know, (I have already written this in a previous posting) that the principal and main man behind the actual building of the Aussie, longest car in the world, was in fact a part abo.
His name was Peter and he came from SA, around coober pedy, trying to get back with his wife who I think left him and came to live in WA.
Whenever I tell the story about Peter, and I do whenever the occasion presents, I feel sorry that he left after the car/job was finished.
This may surprise you coming from me, but to this day, with all the people I have hired and fired, in Australia, he was one of only a hand full of people who I would put up there on the top shelf.
He was, in my books, truly unique, and memorable in every way, not just his job, but a really nice, decent, caring guy and I got to know and like him during times like smoke-o, lunch and so on.
So Belly, when I bag someone it's for a reason, which I am always prepared to elaborate, but normally I do not give praise because that which is regarded as praiseworthy should be the norm, rather than the exception.

Well done Altrav. Did you know the bloke in Brisbane that been running the Hydrogen Car since the 70's? I think he still lives a at Sandgate. I've been told the car is still running.

Answer- There was Pritchard's Steam Car.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Pritchard_(engineer)

It apparently could use a variety of fuels under the boiler.

Based on the "Stanley Steamer".
