ALTRAV. I rarely agree with what you say, and I don't much care for your "style" of posting either, but that is of no consequence. We are obviously people from different moulds and would not see eye to eye on most topics. But I will give you top marks for persistence in presenting a point of view that is somewhat distasteful to many, myself included. In a Voltairian moment I believe this applies to you,

"Think for yourself and let others enjoy the privilege of doing so to"

Zali Steggall putting herself up as an independent against Tony Abbott in the seat of Warringah is commendable. With only a slim chance of winning she is as you might say "having a go".

You say you support independents in parliament, yet unleash abuse at Zali who is running on such a ticket, in the face of a hardline political party hack in Abbott. How is that, if not hypocritical on your part.

Belly "But in truth if they had their way only very right, very wrong, posters would live here"
** Rubbish, I have not seen any person say to another that they can't post on this forum, there are two who continually abuse me for posting articles the origin of which they call fake news sites etc. **

Quote "As some sit on the head of truth, try to stop it being seen here I will continue to say it as it is
No intention of getting involved with the slander of some"

Having trouble translating this to English, when you post like this you have a problem because different people will interpret what you are saying in different ways.

** I think you are saying ** "As some sit on the head of truth, try to stop it being seen here" - some people are stopping the truth from being told.

** "I will continue to say it as it is" To me this is you saying you are the one telling the truth, no matter what others say.

** "No intention of getting involved with the slander of some" - Slander to say or write something that is false and defamatory about a person, I think you are saying you don't do it but others do. **

Here we go again Quote "One can be seen to, while charging others, constantly put every one not on his side down"

** Brain overload from reading your comments. If you left out this "while charging others," and just said (One can be seen to, constantly put every one not on his side down" ) **

** If someone continually makes mistakes or writes false statements and someone keeps pointing out those mistakes and lies, the person making them can develop a persecution complex and think that everyone is out to get them. *

ALTRAV - Don't know why you are apologizing to me for going off topic, I have no problem with it, I am only drawing attention to the hypocrite who is complaining, just look one comment above mine.

In the course of almost all conversation between people the subject changes, if virtually any subject on here stayed completely to subject it would be either quickly boring or very repetitious.

Philip, ok.
As for my comments about the link, I do not back away from my pushing for independents, but my angst is directed at people with an arrogant and self-righteous posture, such as her, who dare to imagine they have even a modicum of nous to rise, let alone engage, at a level required, no, that we demand and expect, of a politician.
Although I suppose she is a perfect candidate, when you put her alongside the other 'token' females, equally as presumptuous and arrogant as her, currently in politics.
If she were on my ballot paper, I would vote for her.
Not because I want her to get in, but because it will hopefully increase the chance of the big boys NOT getting in.

Thanks for an interesting and informative thread Paul
Leaving now you will note I am restricting contact with closed minds
Saw and hope still see this place as a place to be heard and hear others views
But it is best not to wade in waters increasingly muddied by the view ranting makes it right

Hi Belly,

You are most welcome, I find our clashes with the Dads Army of assorted nutters and lunatics from the extreme most enjoyable, better than golf, which I don't play. I know you take their insults and barbs a little personal, but remember they have nothing else to offer other than insult.

On the election front I see Labor is still on track for a resounding victory, probably in May. However never count the chickens before they hatch, and the dark side is yet to bring out their big guns of dirty tricks in the form of the septic tank Murdoch and his gutter press to attack and discredit Labor and Bill Shorten in particular.

With mealy-mouthed ScuMo now throwing out another un-deliverable phoney promise with the claim that his mob will create a million new jobs, more of the "jobs and growth" nonsense they tried last time around. The fact is the government did not create one new job, they destroyed thousands of jobs through infighting and poor policy.
