Everywhere one goes there are Black Friday sales; is this a fine old Aussie tradition that I've missed in the past or is it an imported sales ploy that we will have to endure for the foreseeable future?

It doesn't have to be black, or any other colour Friday for them to have a sale.

I use a particular joint pain treatment supplied by a vitamin company. At least twice a week, & mostly more often, I get an email announcing yet another sale with huge discounts.

I think they had a Black Friday sale too, but the prices remain the same, only the rhetoric changes.

One of my remote control aircraft suppliers site had so many things, [3000 was quoted], that their search function totally collapsed, & I could not find any of the few things I wanted. Another had increased last months prices by about 20% before offering a 25% discount for Black Friday. They also have a Cibber Monday sale. Is that something new?

Ever heard of Christmas, Easter, mothers day, fathers day, black friday is one of them
And it works, like mad days at every town prices drop, probably after being raised, and shoppers shop

Is Mise,

I don't care what they call it or why.

I've just done most of my Christmas gift-buying
and it's been great. Quite a bit of savings -
especially with LEGO sets for the grand kids.

I've also found competition in book-shops.
If you look around - you can find some
amazing discounts on the same titles depending
where you shop. $35.00 in one shop - $25.00
in another for the same item.

As for LEGO? Over $150.00 dollars in one outlet,
and $75 in another. It pays to hunt around.

Is Mise,
It's an American thing that, thanks to the internet, has gone global.

Belly,
No it's not like the other events. People buy stuff FOR those. Whereas Black Friday is merely a day to buy stuff ON.
