Last night a 25 year old drug user died because other drug affected people would not let officers treat him, it is far from unusual, why do we constantly see such criminals walk away after this type of crime? new road rules in NSW are to regulate 40 klm speed limit, both directions, when red or yellow lights are flash in on the road, unless that road is divided, after police fire brigade and Ambo,s have been injured even killed while at work,

Dear Belly,
I've got nothing but respect for ambulance officers. They've been exceptional in providing help when needed. They're quite extra-ordinary people and I for one am so grateful for the help they're provided to me over the many years. Our family are fully paid up members of the ambulance service here in Victoria. We have bnen for many decades - and will continue to be hopefully for many more. They deserve our Thanks and our financial support! Posted by Foxy, Monday, 3 September 2018 9:47:44 AM

I think this is something other than drug addicts Jelly. A statement from the paramedics said a group of about 80 angry men attacked them and they had to barricade themselves inside the unit. I don’t know the area but according to comments online, Ringwood has a large Muslim population.
That makes far more sense because I have never heard of Australians attacking paramedics in a mob and certainly not drug addicts, who are familiar with overdoses and generally welcome medical help. Posted by Big Nana, Monday, 3 September 2018 10:52:52 AM

Hey belly,
Can you add a link to the story please. First thoughts. - If you play stupid games you win stupid prizes... On the other hand what if they were a victim of sorts themselves, maybe they came from a broken home, grew up in a dysfunctional family in a toxic neighbourhood in a high unemployment, high crime and high drug use area... I wonder if they prevented the ambo's providing medical treatment due to wanting to avoid the associated bill? - In which case was this death mandated, by politicians with ill-concieved social policies? Further thoughts towards that line of thinking is that if these people aren't willing to pay for their own stupid choices, should the government, businesses and taxpayers foot the bill? I think it should be easy enough to look at this issue and devise a better plan. Posted by Armchair Critic, Monday, 3 September 2018 10:53:17 AM

Druggies cause the death of a druggie. So what. No ambulance personnel were injured in the making of this pointless story. Drug addicts are no more 'criminals’ than drunks are. Cars passing emergency scenes? No relevance whatever to anything.

//Hey belly,
Can you add a link to the story please.// There have been two attacks on paramedics that I've seen in the news in the past week. http://www.9news.com.au/2018/08/26/06/18/paramedic-assault-king-street-wharf-bar-sydney-riot-squad-police http://www.9news.com.au/2018/09/03/02/09/riverwood-sydney-nsw-drug-overdose-paramedic-assault-police I don't get it. //People with IQ 70 see a flashing light and think "cops".//
If you can't see the ambulance or the ambos themselves, the sirens and flashers on ambulances are difficult to distinguish from those of other emergency vehicles. But I reckon even quite thick people know the difference between ambos and cops. And in the stories I linked to, the casualties in both cases were inside - one in a bar, the other in a unit block. I'm pretty sure the ambos would have got out of their vehicles and gone in on foot, rather than driving their ambulances inside a building Posted by Toni Lavis, Monday, 3 September 2018 3:59:02 PM

Thanks Tony Lavis should help armchair critic, but SMH and ABC online had it every TV news too,tes not make this racist, does it matter who they are? do we think it is worse if they are drug users? or MUSLIM? Justice is said to be blind, to race faith or status, some, those who brand me left, will be surprised but a minimum six months in prison, for ANY ONE convicted of this crime is my demand, look, my pledge to ignore try to be nice,is tested by, well this thread deserves better,do we know AMBOS HAVE LOST LEGS? Police even died, while being first responders? I have nelt alongside both, along with other first responders at the death scene of 73 people, in not much more than ten years, the number was more but I stopped counting, police left the job wrecked, never to work again, the very best Ambo I ever saw smash after smash, is now wreck, research the subject then tell me we have nothing to worry about

IF we can not protect our first responders from assault like this we should not tel them to walk in to danger for us.
The center voter, not lefty firmly thinks the courts habitually, let us and police down, this crime must be stopped and mandatory six months first offence will do it Posted by Belly, Monday, 3 September 2018 4:20:48 PM

Sorry for hogging the thread but need to get this off my chest, last year a 21st birthday party was held near a rail crossing, the birthday boy was run over by a train, will dancing on the line, the whole party stoned the engine, forcing them to hide, AMBOs first on scene? stoned and unable to leave locked van, Police same thing, it took near an hour before Ambos could try to help that man, no one was charged with anything.I arrived on scene to be stopped as train was still on crossing, everyone there was traumatised, may still be

Hey Belly,
One thing I always wonder these days? Why isn't there any footage? Everyone's got a phone these days. Do they not want us to see what's really happening? 'News' in 2018 is more like 'what news?' "Good evening viewers, we've got some amazing breaking news just in this hour, unfortunately we can't tell you anything about it because we think that reporting the facts might be too divisive, so we've created a 'generic' version of this story for you instead. We hope you enjoy our socialist news editing." Whatever it was seems serious enough to me, but I can't really make any kind of valid judgement without some kind of footage or more background information of what actually happened. 'One thing I always wonder these days?
Why isn't there any footage?' certainly don't want us to see the Africans and Islanders beating each other up and driving cars into packs of people while Peter Van Onslen tweets from his comfy resturant how safe Melbourne is. No wonder the abc love him so much. It no wonder people need to get their news elsewhere despite billions going to the your abc for hiding the truth from the public. Seriously, people? Two violent attacks on ambos, and your biggest concern is that you didn't get to see a video of them being set upon? Sometimes you can only shake your head.
//"Good evening viewers, we've got some amazing breaking news just in this hour, unfortunately we can't tell you anything about it because we think that reporting the facts might be too divisive// Yeah, some of us still get most of our news from print media. You might be too much of a 21st century digital boy to believe this, but it is possible to report facts without the use of videos. Posted by Toni Lavis, Monday, 3 September 2018 5:21:40 PM

Footage would help identify the suspects so that they can be charged with manslaughter (and in the case of those who stone trains, attempted murder).

Belly, as dreadful as this is, it does go some way towards cleaning the shallow end of the Gene pool. I don't have the words as to what my feelings are to describe people who take drugs. Assaults on Ambulance should mean mandatory flogging. I suppose a very tiny sharia & a tiny Hitler would do the trick. Posted by individual, Monday, 3 September 2018 6:52:29 PM

Well another day and another story about the event is being told, yes it seems the victim was Lebanese, maybe Muslim, maybe Maronite Christian, so maybe was the crowd, some will now vilify them and change their view on the whole even, some well one, will demand Ambos and police take film crews with them, so we can view the whole thing! the best of us, most of us, will demand far better for our first responders.some of us, in my view the best of us, will call the crime criminal. not a race or faith,we are a better country because most will be in that last group.and? hopefully some who got in the way of these folk at work will be considering their actions and asking them selves questions this morning

When will people realise that if there were a National Service, 99% of these young hoodlums would not be on the streets at night. They'd be sleeping in barracks & camps from tired from the day's activities & too tired to even think about causing trouble.
After 18-24 months of National Service, the insidious indoctrinations from school would have departed their minds & replaced by common sense & a sense of belonging. Why govt are continually dragging their feet in not introducing this service can only mean they don't understand what society needs to function. Its about authority and particularly 'outside' authority. Ambulance, police, whatever...the presence of any infidel authority is not welcome in some quarters.
While this is unusual here (for the moment), its more usual elsewhere when a certain un-namable religion predominates. There are parts of Stockholm, Oslo and Paris where ambulances refuse to attend without a police escort and individual police units refuse to attend without backup support. We are about a decade behind such wonders of multiculturalism. But fear not...we'll catch up. Posted by mhaze, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 8:15:07 AM

//the presence of any infidel authority is not welcome in some quarters.//
Quarters like the King Street Wharf Bar, mhaze? //While this is unusual here (for the moment)// Yeah, it's not that uncommon, it's just a lot of assaults on ambos don't require the intervention of the riot squad and thus aren't dramatic enough to make the news. Nevertheless, the prospect of being assaulted whilst they are simply trying to do their job rendering medical assistance to those who have suffered mishaps is a prospect that ambos face on a daily basis. It shouldn't be. //its more usual elsewhere when a certain un-namable religion predominates.// Yeah, I don't think this is really a religious thing. Maybe in a vanishingly small minority of cases. But my suspicion is that in a vast majority of cases, this is an ethanol thing. The cowards attacking our ambos are intoxicated, and get it into their stupid sozzled brains that attacking ambos is a terrific idea. Lock 'em up. I never saw any confirmation of ethnicity of those attacking the
ambos. The attackers demanded that the ambos hand over the defibrillator and get away from the patient. The area has a significant muslim population and the behavior of the relatives does echo what happens in Paris and Malmo. Those cities and others have no go zones where ambos and fire brigades will not enter unless accompanied by riot squads. In St Dennis in Paris even postal services are restricted as moslems do not want any government services entering "their" areas. You may have seen the riots and car burnings in Gotenburg recently. The fire brigades do not attend as they will be attacked and they just let any fires burn. What we have seen occurring in Melbourne and Sydney is just the start of no go zone establishment. It will happen unless the police act with extreme firmness. Posted by Bazz, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 10:03:04 AM

what part of 'Lock 'em up' do you not understand?
toni lavis, Are you one of those people who believe jailing with gyms, TV, internet, studying courses etc is working ? Look around you, Lawyers becoming wealthy fro pushing integrity to the side & just defend criminals. I mean, who cares about victims, right ? Just follow that australian religion the holy $. Nr 1 has to be the behaved sector of society, then & only then should we give consideration to the misbehaved. If those misbehaved happen to be non-australian citizens return them to their country without delay & like all other visa applicants give them 3 years before they can apply again. A second strike will put stop to coming back again. Lock 'em up is not an option, locking them out is. Posted by individual, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 12:23:05 PM

So if I stated the inconvenient facts that Muslim immigration will lead to existing citizens in those areas losing access to ambulance services what do people say?
That I'm racist? I don't want any local community in this country to lose essential services. I'd rather lose the Muslims. I don't know of anything in this world that sits more opposite to Australian culture than Islam. Posted by Armchair Critic, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 12:28:47 PM

AC,
Why do you blame someone's religion for the actions of criminals and extremists? Are you influenced by what's in the media? We should not assume that everhone practices their religion in exactly the same way. And blaming an entire religion for the actions of some people does not somehow seem very logical or fair. Of course criminals should be punished - and have the full force of the law - but it's not wise to just single out one group over others. Posted by Foxy, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 12:47:26 PM

//If those misbehaved happen to be non-australian citizens return them to their country without delay//
And if they are Australian citizens and their country is Australia? Let them off scot free? Hang them? Caning? Community service? Your post seems to be missing a bit at the end there, where you explain what you think we should do with our home-grown criminals. I reckon we should lock 'em up. //So if I stated the inconvenient facts that Muslim immigration will lead to existing citizens in those areas losing access to ambulance services what do people say?//
I would ask what you think Muslim immigration has to do with the first of the stories I linked to yesterday. And also this story from a few months back: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-05-17/vic-paramedic-assaulted-public-outcry-about-assaults/9772478 Now, it is true that neither story mentions the ethnicity of the perpetrators of those cowardly assaults, but we know that they were drunk. Which doesn't necessarily rule out Muslims; they are physically capable of consuming ethanol and getting drunk off it. But as a general rule of thumb, they don't. //I'd rather lose the Muslims.// OK, and what do you propose as step 2 when it turns out doesn't work and drunks still keep assaulting ambos? Do we lose some another group of people apparently unrelated to the problem? Because I've got my eye on a few groups. How about this as a course of action: 1. Get rid of the Muslims. 2. Get rid of the hippies. 3. Get rid of the hipsters. 4. Get rid of people who talk in movies. 5. Get rid of happy-clappy Christians, Mormons and JW's. 6. Get rid of people who watch reality TV. 7. Get rid of bank executives. 8. Get rid of paedos. 9. Get rid of the presenters of 'Sky After Dark'. 10. Burn Kyle Sandilands at the stake. 11. Get rid of people who buy 4WD's and only drive them in the cities. 12. Get rid of teenagers who ride wheeled contrivances on footpaths, trains stations etc. Actually, just get rid of teenagers all together. 13. Get rid of the Irish, everybody knows they're troublemakers. 14. Call a temporary halt to the pogroms and maybe think about doing something sensible related to assaults on ambos. 15. Get rid of anti-vaxxers. 16. Get rid of flat-earthers. 17. Get rid of people who turn their headphones up too loud on public transport. 18. Get rid of people who don't like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Posted by Toni Lavis, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 1:26:06 PM

Well who honestly would have thought a thread showing us just how bad some people are treating our first responders would bring about a parody thread? this one did, in starting the other I wanted to lay down a thread to give dumping ground for dislike even hate of others, my story about that rail line left out the race of the party goers, it did not need to include that, their actions the actions of the dead lad, the impacts of the grog, worse or better because of race,we sit up and howle, sometimes rightly, about other faiths and races being different than us, in the case of law and order we should demand forever equality, that every person in this country face the same law same consequences for breaking them, leave your racism in the bucket at the door

I reckon we should lock 'em up.
Toni lavis, Of course, but not only lock them, make them work in detention @ $10-15/hr until they've paid back the costs they incurred. The more they repay the sooner they get out of jail. And, jail should be jail not a 4 star motel with a fence around it. Once the many non-citizen crims are deported more bunks will be available so the claim that jails are overcrowded will not stick with the do-gooders. Muslims or not, they are angry at the beheaviour of the Ambulance Officers,
"Paramedics were forced to fend off angry males who eventually forced them to stop treating the patient who was in cardiac arrest and subsequently died,” Mr Pearce told AAP." “We had the outrageous situation where a violent mob demanded paramedics hand over a defibrillator and drugs, saying they would treat the patient. The family was upset and the scene “escalated,” added the union secretary." contrast this with, "In a statement issued through a law firm, his relatives said their pain had been “unnecessarily amplified by the self-serving, reckless and unfounded” comments from the union. “The inaccurate comments made on behalf of the association, which in essence, blames the family for the death of Mr Ibrahim, are totally devoid of compassion and empathy,” the statement said." Can they both be right? http://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/news/irate-mob-of-80-men-stops-paramedics-giving-lifesaving-treatment/news-story/8979c6ba6181671bc5d72837efdacfe6 Posted by Is Mise, Tuesday, 4 September 2018 5:55:20 PM

A report in this mornings Australian says that it was the Union

PostScript, after my Australian workers salute to my boss, a mug not a thug, I was offered the sweetest revenge you can get, working for the thugs and mugs, in the same field, knowing my members would come with me, never for a second even thought about it, see unions are much needed and some? worse than no union at all. Just arm Ambulance officers with handguns/stunguns & direct them to leave the scene the moment they expeperience grief from some idiots. Take photos of the idots & let the vigillante groups do what Police are unable to.
If someone dies because of this the vigillantes could ensure that there's no repeat performance. Posted by individual, Saturday, 8 September 2018 7:25:32 AM

Belly,
of course the Law needs updating. It's insane how so much effort goes into defending criminals & hardly a thought given to victims. Are Judges & defence lawyers actually gettimg their rocks off in seeing a victim persecuted ? One could be forgiven to think that way by the evidence out there. I mean heaping injustice upon injustice is in my book nothing short of insane. I wonder how many times these judges & defence lawyers have to go through a sanity appraisal ? indy my thought here was that the law, yes it is rubbery, should fix this problem, by fixing it it is my view a term in prison, for every true offender would do that, personal freedom should not say you have the right to be an idiot or a thug, that you have no right drunk or sober to king hit anyone in their workplace
