With the Safe Schools programme supposedly to combat bullying; is bullying so great in Public Schools that they need a curriculum subject to be taught by teachers? Is it not the parents responsibility to teach respect and behaviour? If physical violence is occurring the Police should intervene. Some areas of the subject cover very personal aspects of a persons life, is it wise to expose sensitive children to open discussion on sexual difference? Especially since some areas like sexuality are covered without parental consent. Children in puberty years could be groomed and influenced by teachers against the best long term interest of the child.

I have an 11 year old granddaughter in year 7 who came home the other day all flustered because apparently in sex Ed at school they were shown a model of a penis and then a demonstration of how to put on a condom.
This is a girl who still plays with dolls at times! She doesn't want to be confronted by images of penises and nor do I want her to be. It's far too young.
And for all those of you saying kids are having sex at that age, that is probably true, but it doesn't mean we should encourage it or condone it. It's highly illegal for a start.
We don't teach kids on how to roll a cigarette or make a bong. We should be more concerned with classes on how to avoid it for another couple of years.
To me this is grooming of children too young to be thinking of sex.
