By the late 30s, the West had pretty much got the idea that the Nazi regime was distasteful, however, given the very strict measures that the Nazis took to control the media, it is always easier to judge with 20/20 hindsight. The same can be said for the murderous Communists whose regime had begun to stink as news dribbled out in the 60s.

Not all Germans were murderous Nazis just as not all Muslims were/are murderous fascists.
