ttbn,

I am not an unreasonable person when it comes to politics. Bernardi is not 100% wrong in what he says, nor are the Greens 100% right, no one is. Not that I would vote for Corny Banana. In fact if you look way back in my posts you will find I have said complementary things about Bob Katter, 'The Mad Katter', I have a soft spot for Bob, even though he appears to be Aboriginal with Lebanese parentage of Muslim extraction! Bob has denied that. But it is well known that Aboriginal/Lebanese of Muslim extraction deny everything. Thank Cory next time you bump into him for that complement.

What else have we got here.... BTW as a reliable guide to community interest on this "survey", voter inquires for enrollment (which close today) have been low. At election time there is normally a flurry for enrollments, but not for this one, no vote, no pain, like a decent $20 fine. For $122,000,000 the vote may be disappointing. Possibly Malcolm could count the votes himself, announcing the result the next morning,
MT "I've counted the votes, and the result is 2 for yes, 1 for no, and a write vote from somebody named Alf who said, "I'm already married to a silly old moo"!

Here we have a Conservative, a Green, and a Labour voter.

Alf Garnett was a Conservative voter.

Hey Toni,
Umm... pretty sure that's the first time you've told me actually, but now that you've explained it I wont bring it up again.
What did you expect, your nitpicking and rambling was way too much to even bother wanting to reply to.

AJ Philips writes:
“I have no idea what the relevance is of any of that to what you had quoted of me.”

Yes, I realised you probably wouldn’t.
As they say; you can lead a horse to water etc.

Toni Lavis writes:
“And these are the people you're standing in solidarity with, […]”

Nah . . I don’t stand in solidarity with anyone.
I don’t march in the streets, wave placards or anything like that.
I’m quite capable of working through the issues and arriving at my own conclusion.

Dustin,

The problem is that what you said bore virtually no relevance to what I said. It appears that you too have realised this now and are simply trying to deflect from your bungle of fragmented thinking by pretending that I can’t or won’t understand what you said.

Still waiting on your reasoning as to why same-sex couples are not eligible for marriage.

Toni Lavis,

With respect, foreign names are usually anglicised before contraction. So in your case ->Anthony -> Tony.

Not that I would ever mind and you are welcome to whatever shorter version you like. Your choice and you are welcome to it. Trivia.

I should add that in the past, people often took it as a slur and who knows perhaps sometimes they could have been right, where their 'foreign-originating' name was contracted by others without the respectful prior anglicising before contraction.

Times change I guess. For myself, I don't particularly like the shortening of names. If the original is awkward or unappreciated, change it by deed poll. But again, people are very welcome to do whatever they like.
