So, how is the ABC going with its new edict to be 'fair' and 'independent'?
What about the media generally? Are they reporting both cases, with equal weight to both sides and dispassionately or are they whipping up stories for dumbed-down audiences? I am wishing there was similar attention being paid to the chronically unemployed and to sole mothers, where poverty blooms and the future is very bleak indeed. Hard stuff, best avoided it seems. "You make it sound like theres a double standard there"
- What planet have you been living on? - Do you speak out about Muslims in the street now? "Churches crying persecution because they're losing their ability to control everyone and everything" - What is it exactly that they control now? "Personally I am not tolerant of any divisive doctrine" - Do you support safe schools? "Thats not progressive. That's just stupid." - No 'progressive' is stupid, and it is the exact same double standards. If I can claim that certain speech should be outlawed on the basis it 'triggers' me, and that it causes anxiety and depression (mental illness) then they should not be exposed to it and it is exactly the same 'stupid' you mentioned. "That's a seperate issue" - No, it's precisely the issue. If you want this freedom in order to victimise other members of the community and force them to go against their beliefs in their own churches, then it's the same as forcing Muslims to all eat a big plate of bacon everytime they visit their Mosque. I've made it clear before. If you want this freedom to victimise Chritian bakeries over dick cakes that say 'I support gay marriage' and force kids to be indoctrinated with gay and trans agenda in primary schools, then you've crossed the line and I support gay suicide, not SSM. I'll be voting 'No'. Start acting more respectful of others and I might reconsider. Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 23 August 2017 9:31:07 AM

Not usually, Armchair Critic.
<<Do you speak out about Muslims in the street now?>> Why’s that? <<What is it exactly that they control now?>> Not as much as they used to. But the Australian Christian Lobby seems to have a disproportionate amount of sway. Church groups actively oppose and attempt to get in the way of stem cell research, access to abortion, access to euthanasia, and the teaching of sciences that they don’t agree with. <<Do you support safe schools?>> I’m not sure. I’m finding it difficult to attain any neutral information on the program. I do hear a lot of rumours about it that turn out to be bogus, though. Like the dragging in of a prostitute off the street to present to a class of six-year-olds so that she can masturbate in front of them. Tell me, though, how is it divisive? <<No 'progressive' is stupid, and it is the exact same double standards.>> You don’t seem to know what progressive is. You mix what has been dubbed (by Lefties, mind you) the “Regressive Left” in with progressivism. <<No, it's precisely the issue.>> No, it’s not. Just saying it is (after I had explained why it wasn’t) isn’t an argument, either. <<If you want this freedom in order to victimise other members of the community and force them to go against their beliefs in their own churches ...>> Yeah, assuming that’s what I or anyone else wants. But that’s a pretty big assumption. Posted by AJ Philips, Wednesday, 23 August 2017 9:54:26 AM

Well I won't support the Christian lobby on stupid issues where they act unreasonable either, but some of the issues you mentioned are moral issues, and I'm not even really a Christian for that matter.
I'm more of an agnostic, a fence-sitter. I don't oppose abortion, but I most certainly oppose it being used as a lazy excuse for birth control. I don't think anyone should be proud of or celebrate killing the unborn, which is almost how the left acts at times.. "How is safe schools divisive?" - Not everyone agrees with it and it's more or less mandated. -And it's not an argument, (or a cheap retort) it's a fact. I'll give it one week from when it passes to when the first Christian Pastor is up on charges of discrimination for not allowing a gay marriage in his (or her) church. 1 week. - And for that, it's no wonder they're out screaming "God Hate's Fags" Whether he actually does or not I wouldn't know. Why don't you discuss protections for them and maybe they will stop carrying on? You won't do that because the real intention is to attack and vilify them, isn't that? - That which you're trying to play down, and tell everyone "move along, nothing to see here" Charter boat? What Charter boat? Lol Posted by Armchair Critic, Wednesday, 23 August 2017 10:19:19 AM

You make it sound like there’s some sort of a double-standard there.
<<… I think you should also show your Christian members of the community the same courtesy.>>
When a politically powerful Christian majority requires sticking up for, then I will stick up for them. When their churches start “overflowing into the streets”, I will be sure to say something.
For the moment, however, the Churches are simply crying persecution because they are losing their ability to control everyone and everything, and churches are being converted into child care centres and yoga halls faster than they are being built.
<<Since [you're] all so tolerant of Islam I really don't see why you should have a problem with 'God Hate's Fags'.>>
Stereotyping can be hazardous. Our racist friend, LEGO, for example thinks that conspiracy theories are purely the domain of the Left. I know, right?
Personally, I am not tolerant of any divisive doctrine (which includes the Christianity that you ARE tolerant of). But there’s a difference between being intolerant of bad ideas, and being tolerant of those who naïvely/foolishly/blindly/apologetically subscribe to them yet are otherwise good people.
<<I mean we're living in a progressive world and obviously these people are just expressing their beliefs, these people should not be triggered by gays or exposed the anxiety and depression of being forced to do things against THEIR beliefs.>>
That’s not progressive. That’s just stupid.
<<Tell me if this passes how long till some gay sues a church leader for not marrying them in a church?>>
That’s a separate issue. This, ‘Vote ‘no’ in the name of religious freedom’, line that Abbot is pushing is as dumb as it is disingenuous.
If that’s your only concern, then save your energy for that. But that’s not a reason to discriminate.
