All I have to say is - VOTE!
And make your opinion and feelings count. This is the first (and possibly only) chance that we've been given. Lets not ignore this opportunity. MAKE IT COUNT! Posted by Foxy, Sunday, 27 August 2017 6:17:21 PM

There are as many homosexuals as will take up the opportunity to marry as not. In the minds of many homosexuals it is not a discrimination for equality, it is a push by some lobby groups to desexualise Gender; and "Safe Schools" program will become school curriculum. They do not believe in the natural science of biology of two genders, but in a science that we can change gender.
I note AJ Philips says, "just how ugly a stain a successful ‘No’ vote would leave on our nation. The thought that we could present ourselves to the rest of the world as such disgusting pigs is truly disturbing to me". AJ cannot accept natural biology and thousands of years of history, so he wishes to resort to terms like "disgusting pigs". Such comments do not rationalise debate; just disclose how low he has stooped to view his opponents. When you have no reason resort to abuse! Posted by Josephus, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 5:02:11 PM

Josephus,
Two fallacies in one simple statement. You can’t get much more fallacious that that. <<AJ cannot accept natural biology and thousands of years of history …>> http://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/36/Appeal-to-Nature http://www.logicallyfallacious.com/tools/lp/Bo/LogicalFallacies/44/Appeal-to-Tradition <<… so he wishes to resort to terms like "disgusting pigs".>> "Resort". As if I was left with no other option. That's adorable. That one strike a nerve, did it? It should have. You think hard about that one, won't you? <<Such comments do not rationalise debate …>> So, despite my continual attempts to provide reasoned arguments on this topic, you pick out one statement of mine out of hundreds and make out as though I suddenly have no rational argument? You can talk when you learn that marriage is a social construct, and that fallacious appeals to nature and tradition aren't an argument. Back in your box, Josephus. Oh for pity's sake... What does this have to do with SSM, Josephus? The postal plebiscite is about gay marriage. That is all. It absolutely nothing to do with education. Education policies aren't covered by the Marriage Act. You're argument is so far off the topic that you might as well be arguing about the advantages of organic farming methods. If you think you're voting about school curricula, gay parenting rights, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and/or sending a message to uppity lefty ratbags, congratulations! You've been had. Some snake oil hawker has managed to pull the wool over your eyes, in accordance with the predictions of the Prophet Barnum. A quick debunking: * Education policies aren't covered by the Marriage Act. I don't think they're even in the same Ministerial portfolio. * Gays already have full parenting rights; so trying to vote against that is shutting the barn door after horse has bolted. * You'll still have as much freedom of speech as always. Especially around here, because on the internet nobody knows you're a dog. * You'll still have as much freedom of religion as always. It's already been guaranteed that religious ministers won't be forced to conduct gay weddings, and if religious believers get an invite to a gay wedding they'll still be allowed to decline. * Lefty ratbags won't just shrivel up and die if the 'no' vote wins. If anything, I fear it'll just encourage them. When you vote, it's important to know what you're voting about, and what you're not voting about. Otherwise you run the risk of wasting your vote. I encourage everybody to educate themselves as much as possible about the issues at stake before they cast their vote. Posted by Toni Lavis, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 7:14:59 PM

Interesting point about people not even knowing what they're voting for, Toni Lavis. That's usually an argument against compulsory voting.
Unfortunately, it appears that some will be vindictively voting to continue treating gay people as second-class citizens because of some gripe they have with a totally different issue too. Posted by AJ Philips, Tuesday, 29 August 2017 8:37:34 PM

Sure do! You are virtue signalling. Laying it on with a trowel.
