It is not very often that I agree with Paul but on this matter I do, in that all posters on this thread are 'jumping the gun' as the thread refers to an inquiry that is still underway.

It seems that allegations have been made about a person by the SMH and now by the ICAC, but the inquiry is ongoing and, as yet, no court proceedings have been instigated.

I am prepared to wait until any charges are finalized in court before commenting. It would not be the first time that allegations by a newspaper have been found to be incorrect.

My only knowledge of the accused person is that she has came out strongly against the practice of underage marriage and has publicly said she knows of many that have taken place. I acknowledge her for that and expect that alone could give cause for some in Sydney's South West to hold a grudge against her. As the person in charge of the Immigrant Womens Medical Centre, she was in a position to have knowledge of underage marriages.

Regarding official expenditure for example, any here who have ever had a government credit card or even the lowly fuel card would be aware of the conditions for use and the reconciliation.

This woman may well be guilty of fraud, but it is far too early to assume that as at this point the allegations are just that, Allegations.

It appears that most of your first post is lifted from the SMH and I can see at least one questionable statement in that. This relates to the procedure for nomination for Australian of the Year. The SMH has been known to print incorrect statements in the past.

I also have not seen any allegations relating to a government credit card as per your latest post.

It is grossly unfair to lynch someone on the basis of allegations. There may well be some people who will lie to convict a person who has strong views about underage marriage. Cultural traditions can be very hard to change.

It is best to see what the ICAC findings are and then if and when any court proceedings have taken place.

You may form your own opinions, but I will wait on the outcome of the legal procedure.
