Oh Shriek!...it's a Medicare Lie!

You righties sure have a glass jaw.

Remember the the truckload of lies upon which the Fabulous Abbott got himself elected in 2013...the scare campaign - $100 roasts, etc.

Here's what Abbott said on the eve of that election:

"No cuts to education, no cuts to health, no change to pensions, no change to the GST and no cuts to the ABC or SBS" under a Coalition government."

All of it lies.

In reply to Kevin Rudd's assertions that the Coalition would shut Medicare Locals - Abbott quickly shot back:

"We're not going to be shutting any Medicare Locals."

After the election, Abbott shut "all" Medicare Locals.

On Medicare this election, it's clear that the govt was gunning for it from the very start.

The latest round of white-anting all set to start of July 1...

The govt has frozen rebates for six years forcing many GPs to end bulk billing. Twitter was full of people posting photos of notices from their GPs indicating exactly that....even applying to pensioners and concession card holders.

Same goes for pathology and x-rays - bulk billing ending on July 1.

It's hilarious for the govt to be bellowing loudly about a "Mediscare"...when they've done nothing but undermine it since they won office.

How about their $1.2 billion cuts to the aged-care sector!

Look at Turnbull's stupid campaign with no plan except to say "I'm the man with a plan".

The "plan" consisted of a $50 billion tax cut to big business!..plus the words "innovation", "exciting" and "agile" being played on a constant loop.

That's it folks!

The wash-up is that Mal thought it was enough for people to vote for his magnificent self - so he didn't bother with actual policies that might entice ordinary folks.

Here's a good analysis:

"Malcolm Turnbull has been leader of the federal Liberal Party twice – once as opposition leader, the second as prime minister. On both occasions, he has blown it. He has not been the victim of outside forces, nor an ambush, nor terrible luck. He has inflicted the damage on himself.

The narrative he and his Liberal deputy Julie Bishop tried to get up on election night – that the near-disaster of the result inflicted on their government at the nation’s polling booths was down to Labor lies about Medicare – is not convincing.

This excuse goes to Turnbull’s real problem: he’s not a very talented politician. By focusing on Labor’s “Mediscare” campaign, he was as good as telling Australians who shifted their vote from Liberal to Labor that they were gullible dills."

"The question is: how can someone who has had designs on becoming prime minister for decades, a man of commercial and academic accomplishment, with friends and connections in all corners of power in the land, well-read, well-informed, long untroubled by the need to make any more money, keep making so many unnecessary mistakes?"

"Here was a man who looked every ounce a prime minister in the old patrician style: 60-ish, well-preserved, untroubled by the world around him, self-confident, articulate, pledging to reduce the temperature of politics.

For the so-called progressive voter, he was the Liberal that Labor voters believed they could love. For Liberals, he was a smooth operator, just the type of accomplished manager they desire as leader.

He turned out to be a policy ditherer. Within four months, voter disillusionment set in. It turned out that he did not appear to have a comprehensive plan for the Australian people apart from his headline innovation policy, which most voters assumed would not involve them.

As a retail politician he turned out to be dreadful. He was tightly controlled during the campaign because he is not easy with people; he is more Paul Keating than Bob Hawke."

Etc...

Although it has to be said...that "Mediscare' excuse will quickly fade into oblivion as the far-right of the Coalition stalks Turnbull.

All you fans of the far-right on this forum are in for so much fun. All your heroes will be out in spades baying for Turnbull's hide.

And one assumes that Abbott and Credlin (they're a double act) will be back at the helm before you can say "Um...didn't we already do that?"

We'll have the flags back again - phew!...and the weekly fear events where Tones gets to tell you about the latest teenager to be banged up for a few months before he's released with dropped charges...Hanson will be yodelling in wings about the nasty Muslims (because she's kept up with the times and ditched her concentration on "Asians")...she's a full tilt populist loon - and one can see why she's so popular around here.

rehctub - if you're going to spend a goodly amount of time praising this woman, perhaps you can learn how to spell her name...just saying.

"The best three candidates for this are Morrison, Dutton and Abbott...."

Oh yes!....Lol!...they are a fairly accurate representation of this govt's best talent.....innumerate, blathering, sadistic and cringeworthy.

Loverly....

Nothing is surer than that the Coalition will eventually privatize Medicare, if they get the chance.
Shorten wasn't telling a lie, merely predicting an accurate future "mates enrichment" plan.

The rant about medicare being the blame for the libs dismal numbers shows there is a gigantic blue going on in the lib ranks. They are just likely to install Abbott as new leader, and why not. This would cause a gigantic move on the streets and a new election.
Dutton Morison and bishop and will all get the chop if Turnbull keeps the leadership. They are swinging voters when it comes to leaders. The Senate will be even harder to please , like Abbott said if the legislation is any good it will pass the senate.
So much for a DD election, the backlash is going to be felt for quite some time to come. It may cause another DD election.
What a mess these clowns have created, Turnbull is out selling his backside to find a number or two. There could be another upset yet if the postal voters favor Labor 13 seats to go.

Of course we're all assuming the Coalition will fall over the line.

Interestingly, as it stands the official numbers on the AEC website currently stands at seats won: ALP 71 - LNP 67
