Paul1405,

Your Greens, Labor too, are in denial,

<Police warn of surge as bikies ‘recruit from young street gangs’
THE AUSTRALIAN APRIL 18, 2016

Queensland Police’s Michael Niland has warned bikie gangs are stepping up their recruitment practices.

The head of Queensland’s organised crime taskforce has warned about outlaw gang recruitment and said police would be concerned at any surge in numbers, as the Palaszczuk government considers overturning the state’s tough anti-bikie laws.

The Australian can reveal several gangs, including the Nomads, have recruited young members from violent street crews operating between Brisbane and Tweed Heads on the NSW border.
..
Police have expressed concerns about Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s plans to repeal Campbell Newman’s Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment laws and replace them with legislation mirroring anti-bikie policies in NSW.

Legislation is not expected to be ready until August and there are fears bikie gangs will take advantage of the limbo period with an influx of new gangs, including from New Zealand, the US and The Netherlands, into southeast Queensland.

The Hells Angels have increased the gang’s presence on the Gold Coast, amid fears of a turf war with established groups the Mongols and Finks on the glitter strip. Some Nomads bikies — including the gang’s 23-year-old vice-president — have been targeted by Taskforce Maxima in recent months.

Superintendent Niland, who helped lead the fight against bikies after a series of public shootings and brawls, said feeder gangs remained a concern. Gold Coast feeders for the Nomads and Bandidos were identified as the Gold Coast Brotherhood and Mexican Soldiers.

“The feeder street crews do exist and some individuals do move on to established gangs,” he said. “Queensland Police Service and our partner law-enforcement agencies will continue to keep the pressure on the feeder gangs, know who they are, proactively target their criminal activities and make their life in any gang very uncomfortable,” he said...>

That puts the lie to any claims by Greens that they are concerned about illegal guns, violence and crime.

Beach at the moment these VLAD laws in Queensland are your favorite hobby horse. Nothing unexpected in that, given your extreme right wing views. You often post material that favors a police state.

As I understand it these VLAD laws introduced by the 'Hard Boiled' Newman conservative government were criticized by many as being excessively harsh and somewhat ineffective. The Labor Party promised an independent review of the laws. Justice Alan Wilson conduced such a review and now the Palaszczuk Labor government is acting on Justice Wilson's recommendations.
Are you suggesting Justice Alan Wilson is under the influence of bikie gangs and criminals. Maybe you think Mike Baird in NSW is under the same influence as Justice Wilson, because the new Queensland laws will mirror those in NSW.

It is unremarkable and totally expected that the review scoped and instituted by Labor's Palaszczuk government to recommend changes to the successful VLAD law would do just that, recommend changes as was the brief.

As for 'undemocratic', what bald-faced misrepresentation and hypocrisy. The arrogant Labor government has gone against public and business opinion, which is very strongly for keeping the VLAD law and the judgement of the High Court of Australia.

As stated by the Queensland police and partner law-enforcement agencies throughout Australia, the closing down of outlaw motorcycle club premises disrupted the illegal activities of the gangs and spoiled their recruitment of young middle-eastern hoodlums in particular.

These are the people the serially protesting Greens (and Labor) protect and encourage,

As I said the bloke favours a POLICE STATE!

"As stated by the Queensland police" He quotes the police as if they should be making the laws. As I said he favours a POLICE STATE. Along with an armed citizens militia under right wing control!

The notion that the more progressive side of politics as represented by some section of the Labor Party and The Greens are soft on crime is a fallacy, falsified by those of the extreme right. Since 9/11 in Australia all governments, both federal and state, have acted to strengthen criminal law, but also having due consideration for the civil liberties of its citizens. What Newman brought on in Queensland was an ineffective over reaction and now .Annastacia Palaszczuk is moving under advice to correct that imbalance.

The 'progressive' side of politics? What a crock of *bleep*.

Why not be upfront and tell the truth, that the 'Progressives' are in fact International Socialists undercover? Labor's Bob Hawke and ors have been saying that for years, using 'Fabian' and 'Progressive' interchangeably for the goal of International Socialism.

Judge them by their behaviour, here are the 'Progressives', the International Socialists at work,

<Overseas bikies move in as Palaszczuk reviews gang laws

International gangs are taking advantage of Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s soft stance on outlaw crime groups, as the government “reviews” tough laws designed to disrupt and target violent bikies.

Up to eight global motorcycle gangs have set up chapters in southeast Queensland, with the drugs trade between the Gold Coast and Brisbane considered to be a magnet.

Gangs originating in New Zealand, The Netherlands, The Philippines, the US and Puerto Rico have established a presence on the Gold Coast and northern NSW after local groups such as the Finks, Mongols and Bandidos were weakened under a Newman government crackdown.

The Indonesia-based leader of notorious Dutch gang Satudarah, who has claimed the Australian arm of the gang is not involved in criminal activities, was detained and later released at the Gold Coast airport when he recently visited Australia.

His Gold Coast-based northern NSW chapter members have been promoting their brand on social media, as have members of the gang’s affiliated La Familia club, who have set up in Brisbane.

Surfers Paradise MP and Deputy Opposition Leader John-Paul Langbroek said Police Minister Bill Byrne must take urgent action to stop international gangs “rolling into” Queensland.

After a series of bikie-linked brawls and shootings, the opposition has attacked the government’s handling of the controversial Vicious Lawless Association Disestablishment Act.> [The Australian]
