Looks like something the kids ate before boarding, could well be from a hygiene matter or poor food handling.

I have gone to the 'mens' and washed my hands before eating in a shopping centre food court and I too have wondered what is the point when I have to pull a door open to exit, using a handle that a hundred before me have also used to open the door. I would probably be better to wipe my hands on the seat of my pants.

I see medicos are now saying that the best way to combat resistant bugs in hospitals is to insist on frequent hand washing by staff.

As I said before, there are dozens of things we touch that most likely carry bugs. If we educate about hand washing there is not much point if one has to pull on a dirty door handle afterward.

In my 23 years of owning shops I never allowed smoking in my shops, although it was very common with in the industry. Still is, albeit to a lesser degree.

Once the unfair dismissal laws took hold, poor hygiene was not a sackable offense. Although I did sack a guy once for spitting in my shop and nothing came of it.

When smoking became socially unacceptable, my staff who smoked, (the majority) had two rules, one, they had to remove thier company uniform to smoke, and two, if I could smell smoke on them when they returned they were not allowed to start work as the customer could smell it as well. Lost a few staff over it, I was probably breaking the UFD laws as well.

As for the name and shame, as usual, authorities and the media ignore those who do the right thing. I said many times, even wrote to the likes of ACA and said, while I accept you can't name the bad traders, the least you could do is name the ones you tested that were doing the right thing.

I have always thought that naming this who do the right thing was just as important than the opp. In fact, don't restaurants now have a start rating, based on over all hygiene.

Banyo, I do acknowledge the fact, however I would also point out that modern day shopping centers usually don't have entry/exit doors on their rest rooms. Perhaps this must have been made law, because no shopping centre will forgo one square inch of retail space they are not forced to by legislation.

As for modern day kids, when I was a little kid, in the 60's, there were no such thing as being allergic to peanuts, yet peanut butter is now banned from schools.

Too many kids today are raised in sterile environments and that's half the battle. The other half is globalization, which has made the world too small.

Small business are literally killing their customers through dirty practices, this is very common.

So, isn't that yet another matter of mentality ? And yes I do agree that hygiene in food outlets is on par with public toilets which is also a matter of mentality. Literally everything we do is a matter of mentality. This is what we need to focus on. The other day I saw some clips from a moron amusement session err, football & I was amazed at the spitting that was shown. What a filthy sport yet it is promoted to no end. From filthy minds to fithy activities to filthy practices, it's all a matter of mentality.
Is Mise yes I agree with you that design can always be improved but how can we expect people to design toilet door handles with the mentality that is the bench mark for so much other idiotic doing ?
