Australia has fought in many VERY questionable wars. The same applies to Russia, North Korea, America, Peru, Germany, Indonesia ... the list is almost endless.
We are not always the good guys vs the bad guys. Blindly fighting under the Australian name just because you're in the military and the country is in a war is NOT something to be applauded. The military culture applauds a non thinking, passive mind that simply does as it's told. This passive "discipline" is paramount in the military of ALL countries, otherwise the military would fall apart.
It displays how primitive our species remains. Mankind has a very long way to go before our aggressive, territorial instincts are overcome. I'd be surprised if mankind can achieve this within the next 10,000 years. We simply remain too primitive. The fighting and squabbling withing the insect world, fish world, ape world, bird world etc etc etc is no more primitive than the fighting and squabbling within the h o m o sapiens world.
