ON the front page of the QLD Courier Mail today, is a large photo of ACCUSED killer, Peter Cowan, the man that police ALLEDGE is Daniel Morcombs killer.

With this type of trial by media, how on earth can this guy receive a fair trial and, more importantly, how will Daniles parents feel if this somehow results in a miss trial?

I just can't believe how they (the media) gets away with this.

The real question is why such photos and stories of murder (and other crime) are published in the first place - and on front pages at that.

This is unhealthy, it produces negative vibes, it contaminates the minds of the readers with violence and fear - and it also represents a distorted picture of reality because 99.9999% of us are not murderers.

Those who need to know the facts for real reasons other than pervert curiosity, should, and I believe, have, full access to court records.

If papers don't stop such unwholesome disgusting practices, then people should stop buying their newspapers.

Yes Is Mise but don't you think it would be wise to wait until the trial is over. Or, at the very least refrain from releasing this guys identity. Surely they could refer to a person on trial as, a person of interest, much the way they do prior to an arrest being made.

For example, there are many out there today who have formed at least some sought of opinion on this case, or this person, and most never even knew this guy existed.

In the past five odd hears, we have seen Dennis Ferguson and Dr Patel walk away in large because they could not receive a fair trial, courtesy of the media beat up leading up,to the trial.

What a waste of valuable tax payers dollars, not to mention the anguish the victims have had to endure.

Many other cases have been brought to light by the exposure of suspects before conviction and I believe that this exposure should be evidential in any current prosecution on the basis of predilection.
