By the sound of it you've not had an easy life, full of disappointments, being let down by others, even your Dad occasionally ? From the past, I understand you've been badly dealt with by police, and you've (again) confirmed that in your latest thread.

All I can say to you ONE UNDER GOD, not all coppers are so bloody-minded, heartless or inflexible in their dealings with members of the public. And as for your adverse dealings with the Judiciary, some SM's are simply cantankerous old goats devoid of empathy and compassion, and in the old days, formal legal training.

All that I can say to you personally - I sincerely and profoundly apologise to you, for any act or acts perpetrated by police that have not occurred strictly within the law. That type of behaviour makes it a damn sight harder for the other coppers to do their job effectively, when you have a few cowboys playing it unnecessarily hard in the community ! As I said earlier, I'm profoundly sorrow for what's happened to you ONE UNDER GOD, particularly the loss of your RAEME career, as well as your other government job ?

"Pagans" weren't necessarily northern Europeans until the northerners took over Rome in the 500's and the Christian faith spread from there, the Roman empire was the "Pagan" world onto which Christianity and later Islam encroached. The winter festivities, gift giving, caroling, drinking etc are derived from the Roman festival of Saturnalia, not northern European harvest festivals. Christian fundamentalists have always frowned upon the revelry and drunkeness of the december festivals, you could see the earnest discussion of the "commercialisation" of Christmas as part of that tradition as well.

He tells me he is an old codger just like me.
Many have tried to get another better form of post, seen from him , used more often.
OUG I suspect writes as he thinks, flat out.
I can not point a finger at him, my posts pre spell checher and some times after are bad.
o sung wo is quite right, some cops even the newest are not much, but would we be any different?
Some of us are shaky at best some think it fun to insult when drunk, knowing a cop must not be as rude and abusive as you.

As usual you speak with a lot of common sense, and with that common sense, comes a pragmatic approach to many of your own difficulties, as well as assisting many others with your wisdom, I suspect ?

I've always held the view, no matter how well educated a fellow is, without a heap of common sense he's really adrift when confronting many of life's more complex issues ? Further without possessing good judgement, together with basic common sense, (or 'C.D.F' ?? ) a new police constable is going to find life tough, when he first wears blue ?

I'd also agree with you BELLY when our good friend, ONE UNDER GOD writes, I think he tends to write as he speaks, at a hundred clicks per hour ? Further, he has so much going on in his mind it all tends to overflow as he writes, so one needs to carefully read and then re-read his text to gather the full import of what he's saying ?

I think you're correct when you say, our mate ONE UNDER GOD, is as are we, a 'senior citizen' ! I also reckon, he's got a pretty good brain tucked away there somewhere ? An intelligent gentleman for sure. You might recall he told us all he was a former member of RAEME, they're amongst the top technical corps of the Army !
