HASBEEN...

That'd be tough I reckon. Still, as evidenced by your yachting voyages up the coast to PNG and north, sounds like a pretty good unguent for failing to realise your flying career ? Plus a very useful degree, your own business with financial responsibilities. You know, there'd be many a politician, who's not had a fifth as much exposure to the business world as you. Yet they're running our country. Some might say into 'the ground'. I'll not go there.

That's not accounting for your motor racing activities. Plus preparing the cars, suspension, porting and polishing, lifting compression, having the head down, double valve springs, fitting extractors - where do you stop ?

One line sums me up...Army & coppers. I've never done a days work, produced or built anything, balanced a budget...nothing.

Many thanks for your contribution HASBEEN.

Dear o sung wu,

It's not true that you've never built anything.
You build a happy positive atmosphere every time
you post on this forum. You lift our spirits
skyward, and make us smile. And that dear soul is
an achievement in itself. You are an amazing soul!
This forum is all the better for having you in it
and I'm sure everyone else feels the same way.

Hi there FOXY and HASBEEN...

Thank you both for your very kind words, and I do appreciate them, absolutely ! Still, I'm a realist. When I was working (speaking figuratively) - whenever someone sees me coming, I'm viewed with either alarm, or my presence is detested. Rarely welcomed, despite the fact the party concerned, is often the originator (complainant) of the call that initially sought my presence ?

In domestics matters, the number of instances that I could've cut my own ineffectual tongue out, on the number of occasions I've had to say to some poor, highly distressed woman,'...there's nothing we can do...', '...or call us if he returns...' ? Mostly, when we leave, we leave a complete mess, more often emotionally much worse. Moreover, the offending spouse is often, nearly 'white hot with anger', because we were called in the first place, and seen to be interfering with their private affairs.

It's said and it's quite true, a mans home is his castle. NO lousy copper should ever be permitted to enter the home without his or hers specific invitation, and then intrude into the family's private business.

Again, thank you both FOXY and HASBEEN, I really appreciate your insight and kindness.......But, I am a realist, definitely NOT a builder, more a destroyer.

Dear o sung wu,

If you were a destroyer you wouldn't care as much
as you do.

And destroying some things, such as criminal gangs, is a positive contribution.

Taking drunk drivers off the road or catching fraudsters & thugs, are very positive for the community.
