"That reminds me of listening outside a classroom" Pray tell us Indi what were you doing listening outside a classroom, not that you are making this up, heaven forbid we'll never know.
I recall the Catholic Church ranting from the pulpit the Sunday prior to an election that anyone who voted Labor the next Saturday would be consigned to ever lasting damnation.

God the catholic church got that wrong didn't they Paul1405.

What they should have been telling them was that if they voted Labor, the whole damn country would be consigned to ever lasting damnation.

As for listening outside a classroom, it is about time a table & chairs was set up in each classroom for interested parents, or members of the public to sit in classes at any time, to check just what these teachers are pushing at our kids.

Hasbeen, wonderful idea we could have the "Thought Nazis" at the back of the classroom "checking" that teachers are not engaging in practices not "approved" by the State Department for Purity of Thought and Un-Australian Activity. Will you volunteer to be one of the checkers. Any transgressors will be promptly dispatched to the State Center for Enlightenment and Reeducation.

My
father was a hard nosed Irish Catholic from Dublin and he believed that the Labor Party were a bunch of Angels sent to earth to watch over us.
He believed that the leadership of the party was a heaven sent ascendancy thing much like the Pope being the direct descendant of David.
As a direct result of this lopsided theology, and a few years in Changi, he even believed that Whitlem and Hawke were Christ like deities sent to right all the wrongs on earth.
Now, as a direct extension of his theories he was able to tell which way any of us 13 kids voted and if it wasn't for the Labor Party the we got the living crap belted out of us.
Of course he didn't really know so he belted us all just in case.
