So a bunch of lefties are pushing for special consideration for Joan Kirner. They want her given a parliamentary pension she doesn't qualify to receive.

Evidently she's a special case.

Why is she special, there have been plenty of other people who have damaged their state?

We are told that the Oz pension is adequate to support our elderly, we have public housing for those who did not take the necessary steps to provide their own housing in for old age, & we have public health for those who can not afford private medical treatment.

I wonder if one of these lefties would like to explain why these systems are good enough for my neighbours, but not for Joan Kirner.

Could it be that public welfare is not good enough for one of theirs?

The mere fact they are discussing the idea shows what low opinion they have for the rest of us.

whats wrong is govt supports TWO DIFFERENT LEVELS[at least]..of service..two levels of health[public/private]..pensions are also out of wak

service pensions are different ofrom other pensions[heck they even have their own privte hospitals

whats wrong is we are all treated different
those with privledge get so much morec than the rest

is not asued work life
more important than looting..the common wealth..with your bad health

one govt should run one health system
one govt should do all pension[at the same rate]
one school sytem..run by one govt..[private advantage get ya own money]

if you wanna pay extra..build ya own system
but till then..WE MUST ALL GET THE SAME*

if govt pays..its one set flat rate
retire when you chose..but no pension untill your below an income level...and not benifitiary of ANY trust

install death duties
install transaction tax
get rid of all other taxes
like it used to be..

but now you can own control and benifit from private
as well as public trusts..yet still get public asistance,,
its insane..

NO CORPERAION..or public or private trust
should out live half the benificiarys life time[as a dependant child]

grow up
you who got your own way
must pay your own way

if that fails..is why
you must pay transaction tax or death duties

cause we bailed you out
your govt credit is spent

your death will close the account
disperse your assets by public auction
all corperations must die[teqniclly by open auction of all assets[as if dead]..paying 25%..to govt of cash raised[collusion ups that to 50%

but the rich hate tax
love the free lunch

but we all die
thus all die after life [tax the dead not the living

[tax at 10%..unless you hid it in a trust
then..you must pay double]

OUG, there is some common sense in that lot, excepting the death duties part, its the final insult to lfe. One question regarding that, do you have children?

The answer is yes, Hasbeen. Politicians do believe they are a separate species, worthy of special consideration.

And every species protects their own. It's no different with politicians.

Nobody who has the power to award themselves anything they like will resist the temptation for long - it is in the nature of the job to be corrupted this way. They simply cannot see anything wrong with it.

The day has long since passed, when public servants paid even lip-service to the notion of serving the public. Their only concern is themselves, their own welfare, and their own comfort.

What amuses me, is that the current public venting of outrage, the Occupy movement, rails against capitalism, the system that enables us to enjoy the prosperity that we do. Which of course suits the government just perfectly - so long as the plebs have a different target, they won't bother us.

It is no coincidence that the vast majority of demonstrators against capitalism already rely on the State for their income and welfare. And want even more government control.

Just another instance of a species, protecting themselves.

In the 1980's when corporate greed ran unabated and our Australia had jobs, a buoyant domestic economy and a reasonable cost of living, Labor sent Victoria broke under the leadership of Caine. Kirner comes in after the party ditches Cain and the state is a basket case. Kirner attempts to cut govt spending but the unions rally against her and she loses in a landslide to Kennett. Kennett does what Kirner tried to do and turns the state around in one term.

Kirner achieved two things in her life, she sold off her states bank and she started Emily’s list, a feminist based mob that get more women into parliament. The only issue is that the women who come to the party via Emily’s list are self serving party ideologues with not an original thought in them.

Kirner is ok but she deserves nothing because she achieved nothing.

At one level - we have an administration that is
willing to provide the lady with a high level
"Honour," (Order of Australia), while at another
level there is an unwillingness to recognise in
real financial terms a most valuable contribution
to Victoria.

There are so many richly undeserving snouts in the
public trough. I find it rather sad to read that Joan
Kirner has received no parliamentary pension - despite
her service to the state, her continued community work,
and the children she has taught.

Premier Ted Baillieu - has the power to do something
about it.
