No, not a throwaway line at all. The whole idea of my reply was to make you realise that you've already come to accept the spin that we have a strong economy.
By social freedom I refer to the idiotic PC, permits needed to perform ablutions, acceptance of anything the authorities throw at you etc etc. Not putting up theAustralian flag because it might offend some hillbilly from the desert or giving more of your wage to those who don't work than what your own share is. The list is almost endless.
On the other hand perhaps ignorance is bliss.

The economy may not be perfect but it is a long way from what you are alleging.

I need facts and figures, not your say so.
