Belly,
it is a mystery to me how you see every answer you don't like as an insult. To state unpleasant facts about ALP mismanagement or lame scare tactics by ALP supporters are not insults, get that into you. You may find nothing wrong with defending the incompetence which sends many decent Australians to the brink but many caring & concerned people do.
Abbott hasn't even cited any policies yet you see fit to condemn without hearing or seeing. Has it ever occurred to you that the public service jobs axing might actually be positions which may come under a sunset clause ? Running an economy is not like stirring up workers for more pay at a union meeting, it's about managing, something union people have no understanding about. It's about performance & benefit not simply just the latter.

Today Thursday 18 August, the Herald Sun newspaper stated the carbon tax will be at a cost of at least 23,000 jobs.

On top of that Ouantas is axing many jobs in Australia.

Steel companies axing many jobs in Australia.

The Australian cattle industry has had a ban put on it by their main overseas buyer. This will create more unemployment and many of the cattle industry farmers are now facing bankruptcy.

Apples from New Zealand will be imported into Australia, this is at the risk of the risk of the Australian fruit growers industry and more job losses.

The carbon tax will destroy Australias economy. It is already indicating job losses and big employers moving off shore.

If we the Australian people do not do anything to put a stop to this now, we will be reduced to a third world country.

The Labor/Greens and the Liberal/Nationals are all to blame. They stopped listening to the Australian people many decades ago.

If we continue to ignore what is occurring we will only have ourselves to blame when we lose everything.

For evil to prosper, it takes that good men and women do nothing.

I do not know how many of you people are aware that the Australian Constitution 1900 Act is the most important document in Australias history. It created the Commonwealth and the States, and made Australia one nation.
The first four words in the preamble state "Whereas we the people".

The Constitution is not simply a document of fundamental historical significance. It is also a document of continueing and critical importance to contempory Australian society. It is the legal and political foundation om which our nation is built and functions.

Dear Gypsy,

Thanks for the Herald-Sun article. I also read it.
However you left out quite a substantial bit
of information out of the article.

You left out the following bits:

1) The Victorian Government is a Liberal Goverenment
and opposed to the carbon tax,
and the Deloitte Access Modelling that did their report
was commissioned by the Victorian Government. The modelling
was motivated by a desire to oppose this fundamental
economic reform, not by a desire to contribute to the
debate about the policy.

2) However, article also stated that according to the Federal
Treasury modelling - the Victorian economy will grow by
30% by 2020 and 162% by 2050.

3) It stated that Agriculture,
construction and services industries would
boom.

4) And finally, the figures given by the Deloitte Access
modelling commissioned by the Victorian Government do not
take into account the promised Federal compensation which
so far includes $12 billion for Australia's manufacturing
and electricity industries.

These facts give a totally different picture to the one
you're presenting. You should not believe the scare-mongering
and rhetoric that is being presented by the Opposition.
That's all they have.

Gypsy it is my earnest hope you are just spinning the issue.
The alternative is you have little understanding of the issue.
Even Tony Abbott, surely, would not claim the Quantas job loss as a carbon tax thing, near 12 months before it begins.
And those of us who think considered thought beats spin, are aware jobs will also be created by the clean energy bill.
That bill will pass Parliament, we will not see an early election forced by it,
But sincere thanks for adding fuel to my belief ,truth has become of less importance than point scoring in Australian Politics.

Lexi,

Wayne Swan also accused the opposition of scaremongering when they claimed that labor was going to implement a carbon tax after the 2010 election.

Dear Belly and Lexi,
I was not being an alarmist with what I have written. I have learnt over 62 years never to trust politicians. They are in it for the benefits to themselves first and if any flow on to the popualation then we benefit.

Unfortunately for us the politicians are no longer interested in listening to the people and they are making it obvious.

I was not blaming the carbon tax on Quantas making jobs redundant. It is pure greed on their part.
Why do you think the government is looking at restricting or removing pension and unemployment benefits? As long as they can distract the people on other issues such as the carbon tax they can sneak other laws and statutes through.

We all have one big concern for which we should be cautious, and that is the amount of our country and industries that are being sold off to foreign investors. Although it has not been substantiated I have heard China is intending bringing their own people to Australia on work visas to operate their Australian enterprises. When they do this more Australian peoples jobs will be gone.

I do not know if you are aware of the amount of foreclosures occurring on peoples homes and property,s due to the high increases of the basic neccessities to survive coupled with redundancies.

I was made redundant from my employment on the 10th October 2010, and although I apply upwards of 20 jobs a week I have had no luck, seldom even a reply.

A knowledgable freind warned me of how the world would change and that was 20 or more years ago. At the time I laughed and said he was an alarmist and didn't know what he is talking about. Funnily enough at the time he said China would one day control Australia.

As far as I'm concerned all the major 4 Australian political parties are the same, they all rely on each other and treat politics as a game.
