However, why do you take on board the impossibility of such a coup by a small group, but cannot take on board the improbability the potential for leaking and error in a greater conspiracy involving the US Government. Certainly there may have been knowledge as is mooted about Pearl Harbour.

I have read much of the 9/11 theories and there are some illogical conclusions in some of it albeit some good questions as well - that does not hold up the conspiracy theorists. One of the claims is the 'controlled explosion' theory but very few of them mention the presence of aviation fuel after the crash, broken gas lines and electrical cables - not difficult to see why there could be an explosion as a natural consequence of the crash.

You should read some of the 'debunking 9/11 conspiracy' sites as well Arjay.

The following is how one could easily jump to a conspiracy conclusion. In today's Canberra Times there was an article about the US incursion in Pakistan to kill OBL knowing that Wikileaks was soon going to release cables from Guantanamo where information was sourced about OBL's courier; and it was following that courier that led to discovery about OBL's whereabouts (apparently).

It could be interpreted two ways. First: the US wanted to hide the fact that they were aware of OBL's whereabouts for some time and were choosing to protect that location for all sorts of conspiratorial reasons, thus leading the mission to kill Osama bin Laden to stop 'him talking'.

The second interpretation could simply be knowing that Wikileaks cables were being published hastened plans to target OBL given the information, once revealed, would ruin future operations and opportunities. So Jeronimo proceeded despite the fragile relationship with Pakistan. The fragile and diplomatic tensions with Pakistan could be the main reason for failure to act before now.

Sometimes there are conspiracies, sometimes there is whitewash and cover ups to hide incompetence but all possibilities should be considered in the mix.

In case it had escaped your notice, this site does not reproduce Arabic script. I tried, but Qaeda came out as &#1602;&#1575;&#1593;&#1583;&#1577;

So phonetics are the best tool to use in the circumstances. And if you cannot understand the connection between Qaa`idah and Qaeda, then it is probably better if you kept that information to yourself.

Arjay: The name Al Qaeda is an Arab slang word meaning toilet.

Pericles: That's just witless propaganda, Arjay. Stop getting sucked in so easily.

If it is about "being fed lies", then I strongly suggest that both Arjay and you do some simple sanity checks, before leaping into print about the most absurd rubbish imaginable.
