Your comments are a bit off the mark. Denmark has got nothing to do with AU. England has got an attachment to AU by an outdated system of Royalty. I would not be surprised if the GG in AU has got more power than the royals have in England.
A danish prince marrying an AU girl does not constitute any apparent link, other than some national pride.
Roll on republic.

Sorry but I did use satire in one of my posts about that wee lass from Tasmania.
As interesting as rust on an outback dunny door , girls like it however.
Philo, truth is my old mate I need with respect, offer no reasons.
Your time was far different now we are very much our own country you in to your 80,s lived in different times.
Do not fear change mate I ask you this ,give me reasons that make sense why we should not become a Republic.

579, who's off the mark now?

You wrote 'Roll on republic' right after professing national pride for your little princess. I suppose that you would be against a republic if Mary had married Wills or Harry.

England's attachment is not based on royalty. Didn't you know Australia was a British colony?

Still, we need a new flag and a republic. That would clarify our stance. But don't mention the princess. Any princess.

I say the status quo works very well. The only reason change is pressured is to satisfy Irish born Catholics disassociation from England and their descendants and those immigrants from Republican countries. Compare the operations of both forms of government: us with our Governor General and theirs with their President and there is no advantage. Presidents only represent their political supporters, whereas GG are supposed to administer the constitution on behalf of for all citizens freedom and rights. It is not a political office.
