At least the Queen is grey headed.

She is much more real than our peroxided old duck, in a pastel suit.

In fact I'd even rather have Charlie boy than either of both of our hair dresser's failures, but don't expect me to watch the wedding.

OK this is frightening, I agree Hasbeen.
Bill Shorten will not like this but his mum in law is no better.
Just why can we not have an Aussie like Noel Pearson, Shane Warne, Wayne Bennett, I have Grey hair but shave it ofF would not take the job ordinary blokes are unwanted and should spend their time enjoying them selves not stuffing the face with cucumber sangas.

Belly,
Because if they had what it takes we would have one. Sad indictment but beyond argument.

I fully expected a post such as that.
In fact thought my flippancy might bring the roof down on me,it has not happened.
I am not proposing an end to the relationship with England.
Nore forgetting our past and future relationship.
Like Canada I think we should be our own best mate.
Why get down on our knees to any country.
I want still to grin with the Balmy army, not however on my knees
Royals them selves call it the firm, I do not want that firms goods and see the impending wedding as a rather boring advertisement..
If we talked of a Republic 25 years ago, the debate would have been heated and long.
We are changing and have changed.
I offer Individuals contribution as evidence we need to become our own country.
The posters thought as stated, is very much less than marginal at best.
To claim this country can not produce such a person unbelievable cultural cringe at best.

I'd swap our high maintenance G-G + Joolia for QEII any day and throw in their handbag carriers for good measure.

Here is a view of the Queen few may have seen,

Royalty watching is not my thing, however I enjoy seeing history happen. The challenge will be ensuring that I never get to hear nor read the cringe-worthy purple praise of the media hacks. Oh God, then there will be the equally tedious human headlines like Ray Martin (Who?) vying to share the limelight, while all of the time whining and moaning.

There will be an exodus of politicians and bureaucrats for the event. It is an opportunity to slam the doors as they leave and finally things will work OK.

Belly,
I couldn't agree more. What I have a problem with are the republicans or rather wannabe republicans here. Because of the massive lack of cohesive culture which Canada had not to deal with Australia, AT THIS STAGE is better off being part of the old system. I quite like the idea of improving things but improving being the operative word here. Just becoming a republic is not improving anything. It's like saying this is the best country in the world to live but we still have poor people & not enough money to effect repairs after natural disasters. To become a republic we must first create a better system with a plan b & C as well. Not just go headlong into the unknown unprepared. Let's not impatient egotistical hot-heads hijack our future. A referendum is hardly enough to go ahead. The money spinners need to put their cards on the table. The religious fanatics need to be told beforehand where they stand in this country. i.e. a constitution needs to be drafted & reviewed & digested. People must understand what they're in for.
