Individual I can not get the taste of your first contribution out of my mouth.
I am forced to wounder, are you aware of the very deep devisions in Canada?
The French sections and English.
I proudly say the thought we do not have anyone who could be our first republican leader is not a view I share or respect.
I devalue a few comments with a truly required question, are any Royalists here English?
In total truth, Howard Hawk both could fill that roll, but I prefer it being the figure head it should be.
Elected from a group by Australians,we could do far worse than giving Noel Pearson first place.
We have Republicans on both sides of the house I am more than content to know we are on a path to a Republic

No probs there Belly,
I would however suggest another candidate if I were you. Poor old Noel's mate & secret advisor is someone you'd love to hate for sure. Why, even Joh kicked him out & let Noel have a go. Silly old Tom Burns though consulted with the character that even Joh got rid of.

If I looked under every rock I could find reason to do nothing.
But I like the word sand thoughts of Noel Pearson.
He asks for an end to his peoples reliance on welfare and even wants some accountability.
We could do far worse than honor him,far worse than right now, give him a say in fixing his peoples problems.
If you sat down, left the Royalists cap at home, and thought who you wanted you could come up with a effort with a long list.
We are moving towards a republic it is not the end of our tries with England it is not betrayal of our past or future.
It is pride in being Australian, not a colony.
My biases about pumped up pompous people, such as the Royal family/firm leads me to be too frank but so be it.

although I am all for a Republic, I can't help but notice the hypocrisy of this thread.

Many Aussies I know are against royalty and all it entails...until we have a wee Tassie lassie marry the future King of Denmark. Then the media is full of 'feel good' Pincess Mary items and of how many sprogs she can push out.

Are you real Republicans or what?

The Republicans here have not given any real reason to change the constitution we already have and the method of Government and the checks and balances of political power we have in place. A minimal proposal was presented to the people and it was rejected. What flag has any history or national pride that you would present other than what we have.
