Hasbeen, you forgot what is most likely her best/worst decision, that being to go out and buy up hundreds of millions worth of prime farmland, in order to build a dam, only to find out that she neede permission first.

This lady has simply followed in the footsteps of her predecesor, back flip beaty, who by the way wasted millions, if not billions on several projects.

BTW, for all his failings he has not been financially accountable for one red cent.

Yes, she sure had a great teacher.

Yes Transki, I did not like the old bu**er, I was glad to see him gone.

However it was only 6 months before I [with millions of others] was singing that Joni Mitchel song. You know the one about parking lots. Something like "don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you've got 'till it's gone"

In 12 months most of us were calling to say all is forgiven, come back Joh.

It would be great spectator sport, much better than that never ending AFL grand final, watching Joh get rid of the useless 50% of the public service, & stick the rest with a cattle prod.

You know I even remember the 7,30 report was worth watching back then, & that's saying something, Joh could stir anything up.

Now there's an idea, if we could bring him back, don't bother with Qld give him the ABC to run, that would really be fun.

Hasbeen, I’ve got to agree with your list of ‘incompetences’ of the Blight government.

But my main concerns are quite different. They are centred on the massive population growth of SEQ, which is something that Bligh has acknowledged as being a major issue.

But her solution, of decentralisation with higher rates of population growth in regional centres, just stinks! I live in Townsville. We’ve had a very high rate of growth here, and in Cairns, Mackay, etc for many years. We don’t need it to be boosted for goodness sake, we need the rate of growth to be reduced so that we can approach a stable population, just the same as for SEQ.

Now if she could encourage a bit of pop growth in Charters Towers, Hughenden, Longreach and a host of other small towns, then that would be good. But her absurd idea of making Townsville the second capital of Queensland with a population size to match is just hopeless. Currently we have about 150 000 people. Bligh would thrilled if this was to double or quadruple or increase ten-fold!

Meanwhile, despite the quite critical problems with population pressure in SEQ, she has absolutely no intention of doing anything whatsoever about trying to slow the population influx into Queensland!

One way to cut down the rate of growth is to allow absolutely no more building on the seashore. This has been done in the state of Oregon in the USA. In fact some existing structures were removed. I have enjoyed walking along that beautiful seashore.

No seashore building?

Blimey!

That cuts out all but regional Oz.

What would the 'developers' do?

And squillionaires?

Could this be the making of Woomera, and The Alice?

Wittenoom rehabilitated?

Mary Kathleen the new Caloundra?

Mt Isa ends mining to become the new Melbourne?

I like it.

Ludwig, I think all the problems I mentioned are caused by over rapid growth. You will be pleased to hear, [I was], a snippet I heard in passing on the ABC radio today.

A simple statement that more people has moved from Queensland to Victoria, than from Victoria to Queensland, recently. Perhaps the Queensland welcome mat is getting dirty.

An example of problems caused by uncontrolled growth is our use of airports. My son often flies in for a few days. He would fly into Brisbane, catch the train to Beenleigh where I would pick him up.

After too many train problems, I would pick him up from the airport.

After numerous expressway holdups, he now flies into Coolangatta, & I pick him up from there. Uncontrolled growth is destroying the livability of the south east.

David I can't agree with you on coastal usage. I could take you to at least 100 places between Morton Bay & the Whitsundays, where it is quite pristine. So pristine in fact that if I were to drop you there with food & water for a couple of days, you would be die before you could find any your way out, or any human help.

I find there is too much reserved for bush walkers & the like. A couple of people a week enjoying somewhere is OK, but when developed lightly, hundreds can live there & enjoy it daily. There is more than enough for those who like it native.

AS a bloke who can no longer walk more than a couple of hundred yards, I find locking areas away for a few bush walkers, & the odd university researcher quite objectionable.
