>> the idea of world government is an old Soviet–sponsored international communist idea <<
Yeah, and the neo-con fantasy of the New American Century never existed (http://www.newamericancentury.org). Thr previous US government made the most concerted push for world domination since the Third Reich, and you're harking back to the Soviet era for an example. How balanced and accurate. The pope and Kev must be joking if the corrupt UN or European Union is anything to go by. Can you imagine all these Israel haters joining force. Well somehow I think they might get their wish but thankfully the end of the book shows they have no chance of winning out. A one world Government would certainly love to embrace the gw fantasy and destroy the living of many of those evil humans who work hard to make a living for their families. Of course members of this one world Government like many of the film stars would need their private jets in order to tell the rest of us how evil we are because we drive cars or heat our houses. Man's arrogance knows no bounds.

Dear Leigh,
Are you a reader of science/fiction? If you are you'd be aware that there have been many scenarios that have shown the future of this planet to be governed by one unified powerful entity, with representatives from all nations. (Similar to the current UN in intent - only better - because the UN doesn't seem to work to well). History has shown - that science fiction - sometimes becomes fact - given the vision of far-sighted innovators - and prevailing circumstances such as major world catastrophes. So, the Pope and our PM could well be future trend setters - and we have to be patient to see if what's being suggested - could possibly benefit us globally. We in this country are often too quick to criticize and therefore lag behind more progressive nations. The 'Politics of Kev and Benny,' may just be what the world needs at this economically difficult time. Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 9 July 2009 4:41:20 PM

A World Govt without direct democratic elections will be tyranny of unbelievable proportions. We here in NSW elected a useless Govt that continues to ignore the will of the people.Just imagine a world Govt that is over 1000 times more powerful and bureaucratic.
Just be careful what you wish for, since the reality could be your worst nightmare. Posted by Arjay, Thursday, 9 July 2009 7:06:48 PM

A one world government is as inevitable as the sun rising in the East tomorrow morning.
It won't, and can't, happen in "our" lifetimes. But it WILL happen. One of the worst human inventions is "countries". It leads to fear, misunderstandings, wars, hate, prejudice - - - the negative list is almost endless. One of the worst examples are countries that lock themselves away from the rest of the world, like North Korea or the old China in the middle parts of last century. Also, countries who feel they must attack other countries or territories (usually resulting in thousands of dead innocent civilians); countries like Israel, USA, North Vietnam. By nature, humans are territorial. That is a weakness, not a strength. Until we can throw away the shackles of primitive "territorial" behaviours we won't be ready for a world government. The human race has a bit more evolving to do before it reaches that stage. That stage will be reached eventually, probably within a few hundred years. He ‘criticized the current economic system “where pernicious effects of sin are evident”’.
He will get along famously with our Kevin. Both gentlemen have no clue on economics, and the idea of world government is an old Soviet –sponsored international communist idea, which will also sit well with our neo-socialist PM. Does the Pope know this?
Goodbye national sovereignty, hallo remote world dictators
